Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60WF655 60" Rear Projection HDTV

Sony 42in- No picture or sound

I have a 42in Sony Grand Wega LCD. (model WDF- 42WE665) The picture and sound went out while I was watching it. When I turn it on the fan runs for a second, green power light flashes and then it shuts off. No picture or sound. The power/ stand-by light flashes red 10 times. The TV is about 3 1/2 years old. Do you have any idea what might be wrong?

Hi,
Please check lamp in tv as pop sound seems broken lamp.
Did you replaced lamp in last 2-3 years in tv? If not, then its lamp that got broken and tv needs new lamp.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual and its easy, please buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv.
Thanks.

Sony Grand WEGA LCD with no picture

If this is the model I am thinking of, don't bother fixing it. Call up sony and they will should offer you an new sony bravia lcd tv. You can either get the free one or upgrade from the free one to a bigger one. I guess that there is some recall with the light engine and sony is giving out this offer. This happened to my grandma to her 42" grand wega. The ending result was that she got a 46" 120hz sony bravia tv for, if I remember right, $250. I hope that this helps. Good luck and happy new years!!!

Blue haze from lower left slowly starting to consume the screen

The blue LCD panel in the light engine is going bad. The only fix is to replace the light engine. This is an extremely expensive repair. However, Sony has extended the warranty on the light engine only on many of these models. Find a local Sony authorized service center and give them your model and serial number to see if yours qualifies for the warranty.
