Hi. your radio has 2 power wires. A red one and a yellow one (with most decks) It sounds like your radio is getting only constant power but no "key on" power. Check your radio with the key on you should have power on both the red and yellow wires. If you are missing power on one of the wires theres your problem. If you have power on both wires then there is something internally wrong with your radio...

SOURCE: stero stuck on demo mode,

You will find the demo mode in the settings menu. It's options will be on and off and are reset to default each time power is disconnected from the unit.

1st, hold the "SEL" button
2nd, use the left/right arrows to select option "Demo"
3rd, turn the volume knob until "OFF" is displayed
Then, lastly, press the "SEL" key once more.

Here is a link to the pdf document for the instruction manual off the JVC website: http://books.jvcservice.com/Download/717497409/GET0485-001A.pdf

Can we stop it from changing color

Hello bd1340,

The JVC KD-SC500 ships with the color selection set to "ALL DEMO" which alternates the colors approximately every 6 seconds.

To cancel the "ALL DEMO" and select a single color display, go into PSM mode by pressing and holding the SEL Button until the display changes. Use the left/right rocker until COLOR is displayed. Turn the VOLUME knob to select the color you want: Blue, Ocean, Purple, Pink, Rose, or Red. Press the SEL button again to exit PSM mode.

Hope this helps.
