My belkin keyboard does the same on my Acer Aspire One laptop, Except instead of the dash, whenever I press the spacebar the volume goes down by one. So I can't playgames without constantly turning down the volume, or even play music and do stuff on e the internet. It really is a problem...

Many programs extend the usefulness of the function keys by using key combinations. The most common combinations are Shift + a function key, Alt + a function key, and Crtl + a function key. These combinations can be very useful. For instance, in Microsoft Word, when any text is highlighted, pressing the Shift key plus the F3 key will change the case of the text from all caps, initial caps, to all lowercase. Shift + F7 will choose the Thesaurus command. These shortcuts allow you to access such functions with one keystroke rather than three or four mouse clicks.

If keys have activated accidentally. If you decide you need to disable a key, just follow these steps:

    1. From the Tools menu, select Customize…

    2. In the
    Customize dialog box, click Keyboard

    3. The Customize Keyboard dialog box will open

    4. In the scroll box beneath the Categories label, select All Commands

    5. In the Commands scroll box, find the command name for the key or keystroke
(you’ll have to do some searching to find the specific key you wish to disable, but here’s a freebie: to disable the Insert key, select overtype)

    6. Highlight the key or key sequence in the box below the Current keys label

    7. In the drop down box beside the label Save changes in: select Normal
to apply the change to all documents created in Word. To disable the
key only to the current document, select the document name from the list

    8. Click Remove and then Close

    9. Click Close on the Customize dialog box

Logitec K120 spacebar skips runs wild. How to remedy problem

I'd bet that if you pulled the space bar off the keyboard that you'll find a bunch of gunk around either the spring bar, keyswitch or both.

Either that or someone set a keyboard macro for "sticky key" on your space bar when you weren't looking.

For hints on pulling keycaps, check youtube. Getting them off is easy. Getting them back on is the hard part.

My dog knocked over my Compaq keyboard. Now the divided spacebar is opposite what it should be. Instead of spacing on the right spacebar I have to hit the left side. How do I fix this?

Pull the space bar off by using your fingers. Underneath, you'll find a metal rod. Take note on which way it is facing, and how it fits. Make sure nothing in broken under the space bar, then put the space bar back on making sure it hooks in correctly.

My keyboard spaces about 5x after hitting it once

in this case you need to do the system restore to the earlier date and that will resolve the issue .

The keyboard has gone crazy

Have you recently spilled something on it? I know that sounds silly, but I've done it in the past and the only way to fix that is to get a new keyboard! If not, try taking a qtip and popping a few buttons off of the keys you're having problems with and wiping away the dity/grime/whatever is on there that's clogging its "brain"
