Janome SD 2014 problem with straight stitch

I love this machine. It has been very loyal and reliable to me for a long time. Just recently, after returning to sewing after a long break, I started sewing using just straight and zig-zag stitch when quite suddenly the straight stitch turned into a slight zig-zag. I have tried all combinations to get it to return to straight stitch and it just won't go back. Can anyone give me some advice on what I need to adjust to fix this problem? I would take it to be serviced/repaired but it is the Christmas break and I'm in the middle of making/sewing Christmas presents!! Please Help!

I have janome decor excel 5018.what stitc do i use on twin needle.

Preferably straight stitch. Otherwise, the widest of any stitch will need to fit through the presser foot and needleplate. Stitches that are too wide will result in broken needles and possibly a machine knocked out of time.

Ihave a Janome QXL605 which skips stitches on zigzag & blanket stitch etc. It is fine on straight stitch.

It could be that your machine is slightly out of time which shows up only when doing other than straight stitches. However, with the tingling experience, it may be best to take it for service.

Hi, It probably is not major. Computerized machines have circuits that can be replaced. Take it in for service and then you will have your "go" machine in tip top shape.

My New Home SD 2014 is set to ziz zag stitch but keeps sewing straight stitches.Randomly starts to do ziz zag then goes back to straight. Can anyone help

the gear or cam inside the sewing machine could be worn or broken, it would be a good idea to have the sewing machine checked at a repair shop.

The solution is to return the Brother and go to Sears and get a Kenmore. Most of them are made by Janome. Janome is a very good brand for both reliability and good sewing results. Flawless stitches, no jams.

We have a top of the line Kenmore and a cheapie Kenmore and both are excellent machines. Our daughter has a high end Kenmore that we got for her and she loves it.
