In that moment your PC is booted up - can you see unfamiliar icons on your desktop? (links to web pages and such?
At any rate... it sounds like you got badly infected.

So... go to another computer and download the Kaspersky Rescue CD .iso from here: http://dnl-eu10.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/RescueDisk/
Boot up your Computer from this CD and run the test. Depending on your hard drive size, it can take the whole night (took me 7 hours!)
I ran the test twice just to make sure that everything was cleaned.
Now you should be able to get your machine back to life.
Next install some anti-virus software and run a complete scan ato see of there is anything the CD did not find (probably not, but who knows...)

And in the future: don't click on stuff you're not sure what it is!

Please comment on this tip, so I know it did really help you.

You can restore the computer to the factory original by using the Dell restore disk or Restore section of the HD. See owners  manual for details.     The other poption you can try is to load or start it in a more limited capasity and the go to the Windows "Restore and restore it to an earlier time. Then run the antivirus.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Why does my Dell Inspiron 531 keep shutting down?

cpu maybe overheating, check all fans are working, maybe a fault in motherboard. There should also before an error report log on your operating system which might give you a clue. try putting your hard drive into another pc (as a slave drive) and scan it for viruses before putting it back into your pc as the master again.

I cant get my dell to load after turning it on

Does it pass the POST (Power On Self Test)? Does it try to load the Windows OS?
If it pass the POST and cannot load the OS, its most likely that the hard drive is faulty you may have to replace with a new hard drive load a new OS and your applications.
If the OS load and you cannot log in to your Dell desktop, you may have to do a password recovery by entering answer your security question.

I have Dell inspiron 640m, I couldnot log on to the system.

Hi!

There is only one thing to do, reinstall the OS so you get rid of all viruses and worms.

Use the recovery disks that came with your laptop, after installation use the cds that came with your lapto and install all needed drivers.
If you dont have the drivers you can download them from here:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_E1405&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

And if you dont have the OS, you can borrow it from a friend and install it, but use that key thats on your laptop, its a yellow note whit the liecenskey on.

Good luck
Nic

Trouble shooting for dell inspiron 531,very slow to log on and log off,its takes about 10mins,I already deleted some of the files and downloads thinking that's the cause of it to slow down but it's still...

Here are a couple of articles you might find helpful.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/northrup_restoreperf.mspx

http://www.ccleaner.com/ - keeps stuff from bloating your system. Removes temp files, and orphaned registry entries. Very nice free program.

make sure your system is free of the nasties... use online virus scanner.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ - online virus scan, again free!

Please let me know if this helps. Good Luck!

HELP ME PLEASE!!

If you have the cd that came with the system you might be able to boot off the cd into safe mode and from the sounds of it if you have nothin irreplaceable on the drive you might just want to format the drive and start over.
