if the printer has a parallel port then your computer should also has a parallel port, but if your computer dont have any parallel port then try using usb cord which is bundled on the printer during purchased.
or buy USB cord for printer at any computer shop area..
Connect the printer to your system using the USB cable, power on the printer the power on your computer. when the computer is fully booted and you login, the system should automatically detect the printer as a new hardware. Insert the CD that came with the printer into your systems CD-ROM drive and install the printer driver following the instruction on the screen.
go to google and type in drivermax it is free to use and very easy you can also update all other drivers with this tool,i have it on my system and i never payed a dime ,no personal info is ever given out,it is a lot of fun give it a try you wont be sorry ,good luck and have fun with this new tool.
To solve this problem i used VMWare with Windows XP (also Ubuntu worked fine): 1. Install LBP-800 on vistual PC use real LPT1 and virtual one. 2. Set Cannon LBP-800 share mode. 3. Setup workgroup network: my real computer and virtual. 4. Install LBP-800 on my real PC as a network printer
