Hello The noise is actually a product of dust from a blue ray disc.Over time these discs heat up and leave a residue on the blue ray lens. Try using a lens cleaner to remove dirt and clean lens. Also i read an article that using a wireless controler can also cause freezing of the blue ray.
This is because you bought the ps3 from america, it will not let you play anything you buy from europe, i had this problem when i was in germany too i had bought the ps3 in michigan and tried to play in germany and got the same exact error code. i just ordered all my games from amazon. but eventually bought a new ps3 from their region. i dont know why sony does this i personally think it is to stop illegal burning via the internet.
Hold the "Eject" button for ten seconds and try it. Oh and if you have a 40 gb model (2 USB ports) and the Eject button dosent work then try this, Turn off the back of the PS3 (Main power switch) and then hold the eject button (while the main power is off) keep your finger pressed on the eject button flick on the main power switch and it should sound like some HUGE fan don't get scared, wait until the fan stops turn off your ps3, start it up and insert the disk and IT SHOULD WORK
I bought a PS3 yesterday and had to take it back - when entering a disk it would get pulled in and start to spin but would only go in still leaving about a half inch sticking out - it would spin for about 15 seconds and then stop. I had to take it back and get a replacement which worked fine.
As my brother has had a similar problem in the past. You can try going to the store you bought it from with your receipt and request a replacement or refund. If that doesn't work, you can send it in to Sony.If you don't have a warrant,There a repair fee,but it's cheaper than buying another PS3.
Guys just an update really. I took my machine back to the videogame store i bought it from ( Gamestation). They just gave me a replacement machine on the spot. They told me mine was the first PS3 they ahve recieved back since launch, and was going to send it to Sony to look at.
