Question about Wacom Intuos3 Graphic Tablet

1 Answer

My Wacom Intuos3 tablet won't install.

I tried installing the tablet with the software that came with it, but the status bar stops halfway, blinks a couple of times, and just hangs there without even an error message.

I tried downloading the newest drivers online, but when I tried to install them it did the same thing.

Help please! :)

Techie7, thank you for your help, but I had already plugged in the device when I tried to install the drivers :(

Perhaps your suggestion will help other people though!

I have the exact same issue with the Wacom Bamboo tablet. It won't recognise the pressure sensitivity or the function buttons/zoom wheel either. It works as a tablet, but with none of the functions I bought it for.

So I tried to re-install it, and this happened. Then I tried to install the latest drivers to see if that solved it, but it stopped half way installing those too.

I just had the same problem.  I usually try to install the drivers before using/plugging in any peripheral.
However, page 4 of the Quick Start guide suggests that the first step should be plugging in your tablet.  The hardware will be detected and installed as a Human Interface Device (HID).  Then you should install the drivers, and the problem should go away (if you have the same problem I did).
Summary: plug in the tablet first before installing the driver.

I don't think there are any programs for the Wacom. I don't see any on my computer. Open photoshop and see if the tablet works in there.

USB problems maybe ? Or something to do with your tablet pen (batteries), or the tablet itself.

Installation problem

After much reading and searching and not finding anything I decided just to download a newer driver from their site wacom.com. It worked perfect! So the CD that came with the tablet is probably out dated!

Wacom Intuos3 stopped working when I upgraded to Leopard

I did solve it myself. Having downloaded the new drivers off the Wacom website, I hadn't realised they were still sitting on my desktop waiting to be installed. Once I found the folder and opened and installed it everything worked fine!

My Wacom Intuos3 tablet won't switch into pen mode

I had the same problem with my Intuos3 on Vista. Tech support suggested the following.

Do this.....Go to Start--->control panel---->system(in classic view)---->device manager--->click on "human interface devices"--->then click on "Wacom virtual HID driver" and right click on that and disable it. Your computer will ask you to restart and you will want to do that.

Everything works fine now.
