Question about GE Adora DSS25KSTSS Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator
Our icemaker dispenses both crushed and cube but after a few seconds begins to clog. When it does it sounds like the worm is still turning, trying to advance the ice and there is a loud clunking sound. After we unclog the chute, it works fine for the next 3-4 times then repeats. We have the temp set at 4 on both sides.
With mine, the ice crushing bearing blade rounded out on the auger shaft. That leaves too much slack in the blade system allowing an ice jam. This also puts stress on other parts breaking them this is a sorry design by GE coupled with plastic parts equals failure.

sounds like either the dispenser motor is bad or the dispenser yoke is stripped. remove the bucket from the freezer. you will see a u shaped yoke in the rear of the disp area. this should be fairly hard to turn by hand if it turns easily then the motor gears are bad if the yoke slips on the motor shaft then you have a stripped yoke. hope that helps. peyton...

There is a solinoid in the freezer section by the motor that turns the ice auger. Test it by selecting cubes and with the ice bucket out, open the door, hold the door switch so the lights turn out and push the dispenser button. It should make a loud snap and travel upward. If not then I would say you have a bad solinoid. If it does, then I would look at the bucket. the metal rod that runs along the side of the bucket opens a flap in the bucket that is supposed to let the full cubes drop. look for anything that might cause it to be hanging up.

SOURCE: water dispenser does not work
most likely the water line for the dispenser has frozen in one of 2 places. the first place to check and the easiest is the water tank behind the crisper drawers in the fresh food compartment. what i would do is use a hair dryer to warm the tanke and see if it will start working again. the next place that is common for it to freeze is in the freezer door. the only way to fix this is to leave the door open for a while to allow it to thaw out.
If I'm not mistaken I think there is a recall for some of the GE sxs refrig that addresses the water line freezing in the door. you may want to all GE and heck on that. good luck peyton

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back
and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts
connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see
if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid
Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components
