Question about Apex Digital GB65HD09W 65" Rear Projection Television
Well I basically got a 65'' Apex HDTV from my friend for free since he got a nice Mitsubishi DLP and figured it was awesome besides the fact that the thing weighs 368lbs.
Anyway he said he was getting rid of it because of a ''convergence'' issue...honestly I've always preferred Projection/CRT based display devices. After I hooked the mammoth up I went through the instructions and lined up the reds/yellows/blues/greens/cyan and eventually when I changed to the ''White'' grid it seemed pretty even.
Watching TV is great, love this thing but when I hook up the Xbox I noticed some issues with the Red and for some reason there seems to be a ''Warped'' or ''warbled'' issue in difference sections of the screen. I know that I can move the convergence lines either UP or DOWN and LEFT or RIGHT.
Is there any better way of going about this? Also he mentioned something about having to replace some ''chips'' on the board that controls the Convergence, not really sure what they are specifically or how to go about doing this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If the lines are thin and close together running horizontally, it may be the vertical driver, but that usually takes out the resistor and sometimes the diode in the B+ for the vert. Also you must replace the caps that caused the problem in the first place.
