System says fully charged when it is not

My samsung YP-K5JAB wont turn on. when i connect it to my computer it says it has an rtc error then proceeds to tell me that it is fully charged when I know it is not. Please help! I just bought it this past Christmas and would like to refrain from buying a new one if possible. Thanks! Nicka frm nyc My mp3 refuses to turn on and when I connect it to the computer it starts up and says "Mtp connected" or something but then it says "Fully Charged". I can't even format it because the software does not recognize it at all. How do I fix this?

Have you tried updating the firmware? Go to Samsung.com support > download center > type in the model number (yp-k5jab) click on firmware, and download the version that corresponds with your device. install the firmware updater on your computer, plug in your device. and flash the firmware. (this will erase ALL songs and settings so you will want to back those up first). After that its like brand new. Keep the updater handy, since this might crop up again.

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware.

It wont let me get songs onto my MP3 model YP-K5J QB

Make sure you have a compatible OS - as in, not Vista; and then reformat the player - plugging it into another computer caused a formatting change.

Rtc error samsung yp-k5

I had the same problem. Won't turn on but when connected to laptop via USB it shows RTC (real time clock?) error, then syncs, then shows image of battery and says FULLY CHARGED. I downloaded the firmware and installed and all that did was delete ALL the music on the device and it still doesn't work. It is just out of warranty. Does anyone know a company that fixes these players?
