Desperate!!! Ricoh AP3800C Error SC552 fixed last week now back
I replaced the fuser unit and had a tech walk my husband through the sp calibration it was working great.. Turned it on today and the SC552 code is back and cant get into any menu but sp. How do I put it through the calibration again?
SC552 means that the pressure roller (Lower roller in the fusing unit located in the left hand door of the machine) is not warming up correctly. Is the copier installed somewhere cold? i.e. a garage? If conditions are ok and damp is not a problem, either the thermistor that controls the pressure temperature is defective, or the lamp that warms it up is defective. They are the two more common problems, might be worth looking for one on ebay. However they are approx 250 pounds so if you can find a second hand one thats cheap for spares I would recommend that. Email me if you have to do this and I will talk you through changing the parts.

552...... A Heating roller warm-up error 2
?? The heating roller temperature does not reach the ready
temperature for 90 seconds after the heating lamp on.
?? The heating roller temperature does not reach 80°C for 13 seconds
after the IH inverter on.
?? Defective thermistor
?? Defective IH inverter
Related SC code: SC 542
1. Check if the heating roller thermistor.
This code is there to prtect against high temp in the fuser that could cause a fire...best to have a tech look at it
SC552 is a fusing thermistor error. Thermistor is in the fuser section. This code is for the END thermistor. You can also try to just reset the code. Enter the SP mode (service program) by entering the following keys. CLEAR MODES, 1 0 7 and hold the CLEAR STOP key down till the maintenance screen appears. Press COPY SP on the touch panel then turn OFF the MAIN POWER SWITCH then turn it back on and see if it clears. NOTE: The "MAIN POWER SWITCH" is of the left side of the machine, NOT the top right side.
Generally it is recommended to have a tech do this. the reason being that if you accidently touch the fuser wire the oil from fingers can fritx it. There is a counter to reset but all the playing around to do this ( with a warranty if it goes wrong) is better to have it done by the tech.
