As you mentioned your wired connection with the modem is working fine in that case you can check when you connect your computer wired with the router is it working fine on the internet oor not if not then we need to reconfigure the complete router with wired and wireless connection and if yes you need to follow the wireless part of the troubleshooting i mentioned below........
first check is your internet is working when you connect your computer wired with your modem given by your internet service provider, if yes, lets move on to the second step, connect your router and their should be four lights on the router

once its done now open the internet explorer on your wired computer
type in 192.168.0.1or you can type http://routerlogin.com
, it will prompt you for user name and password, the user name will be 'admin' and password will be 'password', make sure you type it in small case
On the left hand side their is blue coloum, their you need to click on SETUP WIZARD the very first option,
It says the router can autodetect the internet connection, their select YES and click on NEXT option and it shows the screen below :

c. now click on ROUTER SATTUS under the Heading called maintainence and check do you have any ip address under the internet port if YES then you have your wired connection working now, check that by opening another internet explorer, if its still not working
Then upgrade teh firmware from the link mention below :

How can you configure wireless settings on the netgear router.
1. Open IE and type 192.168.1.1 (or you can open command prompt and type ipconfig and you can see default gateway number, you can use those numbers to open router page)
2. Enter login and password ( By default user name "admin" and default password "password" in lower case.)
3. Once you login to netgear router page
4. On the left hand side at the top you have wireless setting click on that.
5. You will get following screen
6. Name SSID: (any thing) Make sure when ever you change any settings on the wireless screen always change Name of your network.
7. Mode you can select any one of the option
8) You can select any of the security option
Then you can see your network name on your computer which you have setup on the netgear router.
I believe no one face any problem after that but still i am here to assist you.
Thanks & Regards
