When I plug in the tv into the electrical socket it trips the power to all the other appliances and then when try to reset the fuses box it only swiches back on when I disconnect the tv plug ! So what could be causing the short circuit within the tv and is this repairable ?
If there is a short circuit inside the TV, the fuse should normally blow first before tripping your breaker. The only exception is if you have a short in the ac cord or the line filter of the TV set. Have you tried the tv on another circuit to see if it trips that breaker? If not, it could be that your first circuit is close to an overload and the TV is simply pushing the circuit "over the edge".

Normal reset procedure is to leave the television unplugged anywhere from a half hour to 24 hours depending on the model. However, you are not mentioning the use of a surge protector and if you weren't using one you may have fried your TV due to the surge.

These things draw a huge surge current when turned on. What size fuse are you blowing? These things can surge 10-12 amps on turn-on. What about a fuse with a reset button. They will take alittle more surge before they go. Don't matter about the insignia working before because the cheaper sets tend to stay powered up more when off....thus not surging on from a dead start. Could you try a different plug on a different circuit/fuse? and see if that makes a difference. If you have a 15 amp fuse, then your pretty close with other stuff plugged in. What size is your service? Do you still have an original 60 amp box with screw in fuses? Is it an old house?
