Under this condition you should connect the linksys router physically by LAN cable and that try to get connected with and reconfigure it properly as per your requirement. If still unable to solve the problem than kindly reset the unit to factory default by pressing the reset button.and that try to get connected with and reconfigure it properly as per your requirement.

Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network OS is XP SP2 N614

Here's how to connect to your wireless router if you are getting this message:

First, click on the wireless icon in your taskbar and under Related Tasks, choose Change advanced settings.
changeadvancedsettingswireless-thumb.png
Now click on the Wireless Networks tab and select the network in the list at the bottom. Click on Properties once you select the wireless network that is having problems.

Click on the Authentication tab and now uncheck the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network box. If the box is checked, then that is why you were getting the "unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network" message because Windows is looking for one, but your wireless router is not setup for certificate security.

And that's it! Once unchecking the box and try to reconnect to the wireless network, everything should work fine.

Hope this helps!

The network is asking for a certificate number - where do I find?

Log into the router and have a look at the encryption - see if there any details on certificates there - or change the wireless encryption from WPA2 to WPA

How do i reset my router so i can put in a new network code' i have a linsky _g *****

You need to login to your router GUI by logging into IE or Windows Explorer - Address bar = 192.168.1.1 , Username: Admin password: Admin
> reconfigure wireless SSID and WEP or security from there

( please check router manual for more info or at www.linksys.com)

This is the message I get: Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network

Make sure you're writing right your network password, it's case sensitive.
Also try a shorter password in the router, and use WPA/WPA2 personal encryption.

Wireless laptops and desktop pc show status connected to the router but neither connect to internet

take the internet connection from the back of your router and plug it in to one of your pc's. try logging into the internet. this will tell you if the network is available to the router- if it is-
go to wireless pc
go to run , type cmd
in black window type ipconfig/all hit enter
the ip of your router will be displayed.
go to your browser, type in the router address where you usually put a web site name. hit enter
a window should appear asking for login and password to the router. if you could get to the internet on the cable and can't from the router the router is not set up properly and you must log into the router and set up the way it talks to the internet.

CAN'T CONNECT TO WIRELESS ROUTER WITH LAPTOP.

Temporarily disable all security on the router AND your laptop wireless card and try again to test connectivity.

The exact error message should be:
"Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you
on to the network [SSID]"

This is caused by setting the encryption to WPA-RADIUS instead of WPA-PSK on the client radio. Both the router and the client are
trying to find a RADIUS server with which to authenticate your system.
Switch the encryption to WPA-PSK (pre-shared key) on both ends and it should30924e8.jpg work.

Also check to make sure that IEEE 802.1x authentication on the wireless network properties Authentication tab is disabled.
