Perhaps the speaker isn't compatible with your laptop sound card or driver...or just try to download the same sound driver your sister laptop has and install it in yours note make sure you have a back-up of your sound driver before you install the other driver..I hope it will help you..

Double check the connections (the line input from the speakers, usually green plug, must go at the line out of the computer, usually green plug). Also check possible muted audio, In case the problem stays, post me back your Dell model to locate the audio drivers for you.

Check that your plug is completely inserted. Normally the Left Channel works, as it is the channel on the end of the plug. If the plug is only partially plugged in, it will connect to the right channel signal from the computer.
That is a common problem. You need to purchase some new speakers from your local Radio Shack or computer store.Plug them into your cpu. Very cheap fix about $10. The mix and match connection of the HP and Acer never seems to work. The HP monitor will work with the Hp computers but not others.
Speaker issue desktop's only
1. Plug USB into USB port (any) 2. Plug Black speak cable into LIGH GREEN (NOT BLACK) connector 3. You will see a popup window - make sure it is on Front Speaker out 4. Click OK - you will a cartoon computer with speakers on either side -then click on one of the
speakers to test 5. if that does not work then follow this:
1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer Empowering Technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Reinstall apps and drivers" - look for hardware drivers that you
need. Click "install now"
