Cd's skip

I bought a second hand 5 disc cd player because my old one started skipping. Now my new one skips too, which I find a bit coincidental.
Doesn't matter if cd's are new or old or copied. I am thinking would a digital LCD tv beside the cd player effect the operation causing interference? I can't think of any other explanation. Maybe I need to move the cd player away from the tv???
Please help am at my wits end.
