Gaggia synchrony logic making grinding noise

I disassembled the machine to clean it, as I have done many times before (it is 8 years old), and struggled a bit getting it all in place again (the coffee brew unit didn't want to go into place. Eventually succeeded but now when I turn on the machine, it makes a horrible noise, as if bits of plastic are rattling together and something is jammed. Now I cant remove the brew unit to check - it seems to be jammed fast.

With these removable units, you must be very careful, the circular mechanism that does the running of the Y motion need to be properly alligned. You need to perhaps put the back of a knife in it and adjust until all the parts align, Then it must click in easily. If you have forced it in the clip will not release. you need to rattle it a little.

SOURCE: Gaggia Titanium integrated grinder not spinning, not grinding.

your grinding chamber is blocked, the same happened to me, did it struggle to grind before? try taking the black shoot out the top with the 2 screws( were you would put pre ground coffee in) take the brew unit out(along with the waste water and bean tray), and reach up to where there is a little spring, the spring controls a little door, if you open the door manually and clean out the shoot to the grinder( make sure the machine is unplugged for this), i used the end of a tea spoon and a little hoover. it should work after this

SOURCE: no hot water or steam from wand.

If steam wand is not blocked then the problem is on the inside of the machine, try descaling the machine that might clear the blockage in the steam line.

SOURCE: Gaggia Synchrony Brew Unit Block

You have got the gears out of alignment. You don't really want to take out brew group unless at end of cycle. You can fool machine to get brew group back in.
Here is how :

BREW GROUP REMOVAL AND DRIVE GEARS ADJUSTMENT
FOR AUTOMATIC MACHINES
If you ever find yourself in need of removing a Brew Group that has jammed. This will assist you in doing so correctly.

To fix this problem follow these simple steps:
You will need a #1 Philips screwdriver

1.) First, open the door on the machine and remove the drip tray and dredge drawer

2.) Locate the nickel size hole in the brew group. It will have an "N" next to it. At the 9 o'clock position, you will see another hole about 1/3 of the size of the first. Directly behind this hole, or about an inch up depending on the position the machine was stopped in you will see a single philips head screw. You may have to look around the side of the brew group to locate the screw as it is not always visible from the smaller hole. Remove this screw; it holds a small coupling water inlet (it is similar looking to a tobacco pipe) to the brew group.

3.) Remove the brew group by pressing/pushing (depending on your machine) on the part that says “Press" or "Push”. Pull firmly and straight out. Be cautious to not break the brew unit. Also be aware of the door of your machine as it can break as well.

4.) With the brew group out, remove the small coupling water inlet (tobacco pipe) that is probably still stuck to your machine and reinstall it in the brew group as it was before. Make sure the screw is installed snugly but not too tight.

5.) Turn the brew group around so you are facing the back. Now imagine what a check mark looks like, the top we will call position A (longer part of the checkmark) and where the checkmark ends (the smaller portion) is point B. You will notice what looks like a large checkmark where the coupling water inlet is located. The water coupling can slide up and down in this checkmark opening. The water coupling should be in the B position.

REINSTALLING THE BREW GROUP
To do this, the gears will have to be reset to the start position. In order to do so, you will have to bypass the three micro-switches (Brew Group, Dump Box and the Door switch).
Bypassing the micro switches:

1.) Looking at the back-side of the brew group, not the side that says "Push" or "Press," you will notice something fin-like or nose shaped. This piece fits into a keyhole or coin slot looking slot in the machine and that is where the brew unit micro-switch is located. Take something like an index card, envelope, or folded up piece of paper, and insert it into that keyhole so that it will trick the machine into thinking that the brew unit is installed. Start the piece of paper at the top of the slot and slide it to the bottom of the slot. The paper should be thick enough so you can let go and it will remain in place. Leave this object in there until the following steps are complete.

2.) WITHOUT putting the brew group back into the machine, reinstall the drip-tray and dredge drawer and close the door.

3.) After doing so you can then turn the machine ON. At this time the gears will begin moving until they return to the correct start position. At this point remove the object from the keyhole position and you can now reinstall the brew group. If the brew group does not go back in correctly, try a few more times. The machine will return to its home position. Note: The two large spokes of The brew drive shaft should in the Up position

At times, the gears in the brew drive assembly will not complete the cycle to the proper
start position for different reasons. Some of the reasons are:
• Brew group jammed or blocked
• Either one of the micro switches in the brew drive have gone bad.
• Brew drive motor Failure.
• Broken teeth on either of the brew drive gears.
• Dirty brew group, covered by coffee grinds.
• Brew group or gears not lubricated.
• Connections to the board from brew drive assy., or motor have gone bad.
A jammed or blocked brew group happens when the brew group starts the cycle but doesn’t finish it.

SOURCE: My gaggia titanium says it's brew unit is blocked

Try cleaning and relubing the brew unit.
If that fails you require a new main board.

SOURCE: Gaggia Titanium - can't get it to move beyond

Select "Hot Water" and open the steam valve. Let it pump water out the steamer for awhile. It usually clears right away but may need to pump a lot of water to clear the error.

If you aren't able to get any water coming out the steam nozzle, you may need to prime the pump with the little squeezy tool they gave you with the machine - or you can use a turkey baster. Mainly you are trying to get water up into the pump to prime it (get the air out of the pump) so it can pump water instead air.

We have a Gaggia Syncrony Logic that is just over two years old. After each brew cycle, the puck is successfully ejected but water and some grounds flow out under the drip tray instead of into it....

Hi
Check the drain behind the brew unit. There is a pocket below the injector that can plug up and cause water to drain under the drip tray. Check this first. Stick you finger in the pocket and see if there is water in it. If there is, the drain below and to the right is plugged and just needs to be cleaned.

I have a Gaggia Synchrony problem: Whenever I press the brew button, the coffee grinder grinds the coffee and then dumps it before going through the water stage.

There is a lever above the center of the door on the side of the machine. Pull the lever 1 click towards the front of the machine and try again. You diodn't say what your grinds looked like, but if they a chunky your grinder is bad and needs to be fixed. That will cause it also to dump early.

I have a Gaggia Digital Syncrony. The machine

Hi
You could have a micro switch in the doser that is going bad and needs to be replaced. They are a special micro switch that is very sensitive and can get stuck with a little coffee dust inside the switch.

No cream on the espresso when dispensed

I was having this trouble with Lavazza beans and Morrisons (horrible) beans. I switched to Formula 6 from James' Gourmet Coffee on the internet and every cup has a great crema layer and good taste.
With the old beans I could get an occasional good cup, it seemed this was more of a problem if the machine had been switched on for a long time before making the cup. I use a Gaggia machine with a Gaggia MDF grinder on 8 or 9 setting, with the new beans I now get a great cup all the time so I'm going to try more the James' range!
