I just hooked up a new Toshiba 19"TV/DVD model 19SLV411U. There is basically no sound. I read the manual, checked both the remotes for the cable and TV, everything. Could not find a solution. Went to Toshiba's website and found reviews for this TV. Every review was about the horrible audio. I can't return the TV to the store, is there any recourse?
I do not understand why the set cannot be returned but I would be interested to know if the low sound is on TV or DVD only or both.
Some of these sets have a tiny audio circuit that puts out fairly low sound levels---unless a as is sale the set has to be fit to be used, go after the store first for refund or exchange for another brand or Contact Toshiba==set may be up for a exchange if enough folks complain.
I have not tried the DVD yet, but other customer reviews said the DVD sound is worse than the TV. I bought the TV at Conn's and remember having to sign a paper about a very short return period...like 10 days or something close to that. I questioned the saleman and he assured me it was normal. I didn't even take it out of the box until long after I bought it. I didn't need it for awhile. Thank you for responding! I will contact Toshiba when they reopen after the holiday.

SOURCE: Unable to display HDMI Input
Okay so you have the HDMI cables from both the DVD and the Cable box plugged into the reveiver?
SOURCE: DVD/VCR hook up to HDTV. No audio on DVD or VCR, no video on VCR
When you use component audio, it may shut off the side a/v audio settings. Try restoring all defualts (any changes you have made will be lost by doing so) according to p. 32 of the manual:
Menu --> Setup --> Reset --> Yes

SOURCE: When I plug my PS2 or VCR into the back of my TV
Yellow is a composite output and should be plugged into a composite input, whereas Y indicates the COMPONENT input of the TV. If you don't have a separate composite input use a scart to phono (rca) adapter in your tv's scart input.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply and remember, even if you don't vote for me a please and thank you goes a long way.
