Zenith 42''model P42W34: The main power board is producing the correct power, the Z SUS board #6871QZH030A has 2 bad 250v 680uf electrolytic radial 105 deg C capacitors and the Y SUS board #6871QYH027A has 2 of the same value caps that are bad. I priced the 4 caps for $20, they have a 2000 hr rating(seems short). Has anyone benn successful replacing these caps?
Zenith 50'' model Z50PX2D: The main board #E247691 has 3 bad capacitors. Two are 450v 330uf and the other is a 250v 820uf electrolytic radial 105 deg capacitor.I priced these at $18.
Is it the short cap life that causes failures? These tv's are only a few(1.5 &3) years old. All 3 boards are $500.

You can check the va, vs adjustment, but alot of plasmas does this, my first thought would be the y sus board, it also could be the panel which is not worth fixing, if it is really bad, check voltage and if this isn't out then Y- board is the next thing to check.
Buffer boards or Y-SUS main needs to be replaced. What do you mean by motherboard? The power supply board or the Logic or X main.... They YBU/YBL and the YSUS work in unison. Y-Buffer upper controls top half, Y Buffer lower control bottom have YSUS controls both of those. There is also D, G, E F boards that can split screan. But they to are controlled with the Y-SUS Main. Hope this helps...
Turn off the TV then unplug it. Disconnect the cable connection and clean the terminals. If the stripes still exist, you have a bad TCP (tape carrier package). It is responsible in transmitting color information to the display panel from the X-Drive (A-Bus) Board. This is not an easy repair. Service of an experienced or a qualified technician is recommended.

Before Opening, double check something for me and post a follow up. I have this tv and I believe it has dual power buttons. One main and one secondary. A remote can't turn it on unless the main power button on the bottom left is on.
Please post follow up.
this is from a tech tip I got that should help.
1. The Power Supply may not be producing the correct voltages.
2. The Digital Module (Digi-Main) may not be producing correct
turn on commands (Power 1 and 2).
3. The Logic PWB may not be supplying the correct Vs/Va turn on
commands (Vsago and Vcego).
The Panel can have a defect of two natures.
1. The panel is shorted.
2. The panel is defective, but not presenting a short.
3. Y-SUS and/or X-SUS may be defective (Shorted and or nonworking
