Question about LG enV VX9900 Cellular Phone
My phone is showing an error message: use genuine battery and then powers off. This just started this evening and the phone is a replacement for the original phone I bought last summer.
I had the same problem but found a solution. Take the battery out of the phone. Put it in a ziplock bag & place it in your freezer for about an hour. Before you put it back in your phone hold the end key on your phone for about 15 seconds. Place the battery back in the phone & try to power up. If the battery is completey dead throw it on the charger for about 15 minutes, then attempt to power up. If the phone comes on place it back on the charger. These has worked for me several times without fail. The key to this phone is not to let the battery go totally down, & never turn it off. Seems stupid but if you want to avoid doing the steps above I recommend it.

I have the same problem...try a couple of things, take the battery out and wipe the copper metal connectors off with nail polish remover, on both the battery and inside where the battery sits in the phone. If that fails to work when you are turning on the phone push down on the battery as hard as you can down and slightly to the side, you should feel the battery move slightly. Hold it in that position as tightly as you can while turning on the phone. The problem with the phone is that the copper terminals get dirty and it tells the phone not to turn on. If you have to go back to verizon with the phone I doubt they will cover the battery...your looking at 49.95. This fix is assuming you did not get your phone wet in any manner.

This usually means water damage in the phone or bad connector between battery and phone. water damaged phones are weird. They can be fixed or dryed out with the rice trick. But your phone will act up eventually. Sometimes its everydady sometimes every month. Mine worked after i left in a bag of rice for a week. Worked fine for 2 more months and it's acting up again. So sometimes i have to squeeze the battery where the connectors meet while powering on and it won't do the "genuine battery" power off. Sometimes it will work for a while sometimes just a few minutes. Sucks these days you almost need a phone with warranty. Mine was a month old and it got waterdamaged i guess from when i took a shower and steam from the shower damaged it, but it was sitting on a counter 3 feet away. Some phones are just Lemons?$#!%%$#$~!

I had this problem with my ENV 3 and yesterday Verizon told me it was junk. They said the water damage corrodes the circuit board almost immediatly.I decided to try this idea I had today and for the past 3 hours it is up and working like new.I removed the 5 small screws and took the phone apart. I unclipped the metal circuit board cover and used a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol and "dabbed" the entire circuit board.Gave it a few minutes to dry completely and put it back together.Installed battery and turned it on. BE CAREFUL when disassembling the phone DO NOT get in a hurry and break it or tear any of the connections. I hope this helps some of you!!!! This was Very Light Water Damage, not submerged.

I am having the same exact problem with my phone. I purchased my phone less than a week ago. I just got off the phone with Verizon and I was told that it is defect in the phone and there is no way to fix it; the phone needs to be replaced. Thankfully, I am still under warranty.
