Hi Joyce, Either you have to setup the Encryption password ( network key ) or you need to contact your ISP ( internet service provider ) to do so. Click on the link below and it will guide you how to set security to your router ( network ) Secure D-Link Wireless Router Regards,Suhail
Welcome to Fixya. If you want to setup a password or security on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security on the Dropdown next to Security Mode select either WEP or WPA. Then Personalize your Network Key. The Network Key serves as a password on your network to make it secure. Then Save the settings
If this works dont forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.

You need to log into the router setup screen - you do this by connecting a PC to the Router via a cable connection and then using Internet Explorer (IE) you log into the router.
Using the default settings
Open a web browser and enter http://192.168.0.1 and press Enter. When the login window appears, set the user name to admin and leave the password box empty. Click OK to continue.
Goto the Wireless security section to set the security type and the password
Section 4 of the manual - see below deals with setting the wireless security
This is the support site for that router http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=WBR-1310
Click on the Support Resources - that will take you to the manuals for different Version of that model - click on the model you have to get to the online manual
You can enable WEP on your router to make your wireless network secure.
To access the screen of the router, type the ip address of the router in the address bar of Internet explorer or Firefox. By default the ip address of the router is 192.168.1.1. If this doesn't work, go to the command prompt (Start -> run -> type cmd). Type ipconfig. Copy the default gateway.
It will prompt you for a user name and password. By default leave the user name blank and then type admin in the password field.
Once you are in the Linksys screen, go to the Wireless tab -> Wireless security.
For the security mode, select WEP.
WEP encryption: 64bits 10 hex digits.
On the Passphrase field, type a wireless password of your choice, then click Generate.
It will give you a key. You will need to copy the wireless network key because you will need to enter this key on your PS3 and laptop. Take note that this is also case sensitive.
Once you click save settings, it will disconnect all your wireless computers.
You will need to manually enter the wireless network key on all your wireless devices. Without the network key, other computers will not be able to connect to your network.
I hope this helps.

1. Connect the computer to your Wireless router then using the internet explorer access the router gui 192.168.1.1
2. It is extremely important that you change the password for your router. Select a strong password using numbers and letters. This is the password that you will use to login and configure your router after this initial setup. + 3. Select a unique name for your wireless network. The name of your network is known as the SSID. This is what wireless users will use to identify which router and network they connect to.
Dide you set up the wireless on your router? If you have done this and you have it set for None for security, you will also be "unsecured", BUT you still have a name (SSID) to identify your network. Check that your internet is set for "Private" access, if you are presented the option between Private and Public.
open 192.168.1.1 in your browser. It will ask for username and password.Leave the username as blank and in password type admin. You will get the linksys pages. Now click on wireless on the black bar at the top.Click on wireless security just under wireless in the blue bar.Select security mode as WEP.In key 1 type any 10 digit no. which will be your security key.Scroll down and click seave settings.now your network is secured.
