Info on the SW9800 Subwoofer

I was given a Philips SW9800/37 subwoofer (no cables or any other part). The subwoofer has a 15-pin VGA-like signal connector to the junction box where the RCA connectors are. Since I don't have the juction box, I need the signal information or pinout for the VGA connector. Does anyone has a juction box for sale (good or bad)?Or does anyone know the signals pinout?

    I am reading this late, but, yes, I am an EE and if you could send me a copy by email (rayramirez@prtc.net), I can analyze it and get the info we both need. Thank you!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Where do the cables go for pic and sound

You can find the manual here if you need a copy.

This system was sold with speakers and connecting cables. One cable connects from the main unit to the subwoofer. The rest of the speakers supplied with the system plug into the subwoofer with their special connecting cables. If you don't have the subwoofer and satellite speakers along with the cables, you can't get sound out of this system. There is no built-in amplifier and no way to connect speakers otherwise.

The video connection to your monitor or TV is from the rear panel on the main unit. You can use an s-video cable, composite video (a single cable with RCA plugs) or component video (3 RCA cables), depending on the inputs supplied on the TV. Component video gives best performance if the TV supports it.

Hi I have a Philips HTS3450 system but lost the Subwoofer, Is there a way that I can connect the Subwoofer connection to my Panasonic Home theator system to get the sound? Thanks in advance

I'm not sure what you mean by "connecting the Subwoofer connection to my Panasonic Home Theater System"

If you want to watch something on the Philips and send the audio to your Panasonic Home Theater you can buy a VGA to AV Adapter Cable. Just connect it to the back of the Philips HTS3450, get an AV cable (red,white,yellow) and run it to the Panasonic.

I recommend buying it here: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=212966742

Pinout for 15 pin audio connector on Philips

1=control (I assume this is some kind of digital signal to turn the amp on and off...?)
2=nc (no connection)
3=nc
4=centre
5=centre ground
6=digital ground (possibly not needed if you're not hooking into the sub...?)
7=subwoofer
8=sub ground
9=nc
10=left ground
11=left front
12=right front
13=right ground
14=right rear
15=left rear

Digital Optical port to 8-pin din

Optical digital cables can't be magically wired to copper inputs. NO digital signal can be magically connected to an analog interface and work.

Even if you could do what you propose, how would you control volume?

Why don't you just connect the BluRay to the JVC system and let IT handle the audio to the sub and satellites?

Run an optical cable to the JVC TH-C60's Optical In port. Make sure there are no tight bends in the optical cable as that will degrade its ability to transmit a signal.

Speakers

Did you read the manual or just started to try and connect everything?
what do you mean by HT slots? I hope not the slots on teh back of the device itself....

Just check here,1 cable from the device to the subwoofer, the speakers should be connected to teh subwoofer: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/faqview?scy=US&subrequest=1&mid=Link_FAQs&view=aa12_view_full.html&desc=Philips+DVD+Home+Theater+System+HTS3450+DivX+Ultra&session=20090417124015_94.209.249.65&list=aa12_list_partial.html&slg=AEN&refnr=0006801&refdisplay=AVS_HTS_031&dct=QAC&ctn=HTS3450/37

No power to subwoofer

The subwoofer is designed to be "on" at all times. It will detect signal from the cable and should start by itself. So yes, the pin cable must be connected.
