Question about GE Nautilus 24" Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Problem draining became problem with filling

The dishwasher in question hasn't been used in about a year. We just got our kitchen redone and when we ran the dishwasher, there was water left in the bottom. Turned out that the knockout plug had not been removed from the new disposal. Easy enough to fix. But now the dishwasher won't fill and it makes odd, clicking noises that seem electrical in nature. Any advice for us? The dishwasher is a GE Nautilus, about 3 years old, and had worked great for the first two years.

Hello.
If it's filling all the time when dishwasher is not even running? The water inlet valve that the house water supply connects to at the dishwasher,is sticking open and needs to be replaced..what you can do now to stop it from constantlu filling is turn off water supply to the d/w from under the kitchen sink.

Typically the model number is on a label on the egde of the door inside or on the rim of the tub..it would be needed to order a water valve

If you hear the drain pump run after wash and rinse cycles then it is likely the problem is in the kitchen drain end. Have you got a disposal unit in the kitchen sink. Sometime it is full and causing a block.

If you don't hear the drain pump run then the dishwasher may not be getting out of wash cycle and simply timing out. In this case the drain pump could be the problem.
it might help if you provide the make and model of dishwasher and also confirm whether any lights are flashing when cycle is complete.

Most water supply lines are attached to the hot water supply under the kitchen sink. If not it may be accessible from the basement somewhere under where the dishwasher is located.

Regarding the issue with the dishwasher, the inlet water valve is no longer closing because of the limescale that has built up inside. That is why it fills on it's own even when it's off. Instead of replacing the dishwasher you could just replace the inlet water valve if you want to get a few more years out of it.

SA 660 SMEG dishwasher constantly filling....

this can be water draining from your sink into the dishwasher via the drain pipe, assuming the drain pipe goes to a spigot on the sink trap.
take the drain hose up as high as possible in a swan neck to prevent this.

check to see if your dishwasher is level. If it is unlevel the water could run to the front. Hope this helps.

Kitchen Aid KUDI230BAL0 - no fill on rinse

i would check for apossible drain issue, perhaps siphoning water out after 2nd fill. make sure you have prper high loop insatlled in drain hose, could also be a bad water fill valve, solenoid overheating and not opening properly after 3 fills
