Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Washer leaks from rear. The hoses are perfect.

I have a Kenmore Elite washing machine. When the tub is being filled it appears that some of the water is entering the rear of the washer and not falling totally in the tub. What can I do to correct the problem? I notice leaking from the rear of the washer.

My kenmore elite topload washer is leaking underneath washing machine leaving a puddle whats causing this?

depends. first and foremost, I would fill the unit up about halfway with water, with tub being empty of any clothing. Tilt the machine back where you can look underneath it real good. see if you see any leaks with it half full of water. If you don't see any leaks, put the unit back on all fours, and put it into drain/spin. After tub empties of water, tilt unit back again and check for leaks near the drain pump and hose. If you need any further assistance, look for me on 6ya

My kenmore washer molel 110-82873120 is leeking from the top.

Dear R.A.,
If your washer is leaking you should first check the hoses.
  • There are several types of hoses found on a washing machine and the most common are the drain and fill hoses.
  • The fill hoses connect the household supply to the water inlet valve and are normally located at the rear of the washer. Check to make sure that the threaded fittings are tightened securely and that the leak is not caused by the faucet.
  • The drain hose is also located at the rear of the machine and may not be properly installed into the household drain. Verify that the leak is not caused by a restricted household drain that is backing up through the stand pipe.
  • Washers will also have internal hoses that connect the inlet valve to the tub. A defect in this hose would create a leak during the fill cycle.
  • Access the tub inlet by lifting the main top or removing the cabinet and inspect the hoses for signs of abrasion or cracking.
  • Also inspect the other components of the water inlet system such as a siphon break or tub injection assembly for signs of a leak. Check for loose or corroded clamps, and cracked or perforated hoses.
  • Your inlet Valves may also be totally defective and cause the washer to overfill therefore causing a leak over the top.
  • Check for the tub Pressure switch assembly may be defective causing such leak.
  • Your model requires removing the complete cabinet.(front and sides come out as on piece) Here a link to all your machine parts
I think we cover all the possibilities.
Best of Luck,
JP

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3t washer. It fills up

Ironically, the "FH" error is called a "No Water Detect" error. It can have several causes however. The error can be generated if there's no water, or not enough water flowing into the washer. It can also be generated if there's too much water. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608753-fh_error_code

Since your washer is over-filling, I would strongly suspect you have a pressure switch malfunction or the air hose that runs from the wash tub to the pressure swtich has come loose. The pressure swtich is located in the the right rear area of the washer and is accessed by removing the top panel of the washer. There is a small air hose that runs from the switch to the bottom of the wash tub. This air hose is used to detect the pressure differential in the tub as the washer fills. The pressure differential is sensed by the pressure swtich and it shuts off the water supply to stop filling. I would recommend you follow this air hose all the way to the bottom of the wash tub to ensure it is still attached. If not, the tub will continue to fill as yours is doing. Reattach the hose as necessary if it has come loose and the poblem should go away. Make sure you check the entire run of the hose to ensure there are no holes as well. Leaks will cause the pressure swtich to malfuction. If the air hose is still intact, replace the pressure swtich. The part number for a replacement pressure switch is 8181695. If you need to replace the air hose, the part number is W10004260. You can purchase parts at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The first three sites on the list offer helpful exploded view diagrams to assist you in part location/identification. The pressure switch and hose is listed under the "Top and Cabinet" heading if you search by model number.

The pressure hose replacement is simple. Make sure the washer is UNPLUGGED before servicing and disconnect the electrical connector plug(s) from the switch, disconnect the air hose and remove any mounting screws. Some of these switch are simply clipped onto the cabinet side.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this information helps you.

Washing machine is leaking while filling and before rinse

Hi,

Leaking water from a washing machine usually comes from hoses or connections. Be sure that water appearing to be a leak isn’t drain water from a backed-up standpipe. To prevent potential flood damage, which can occur if washing machine supply hoses burst, be sure to install “no-burst” stainless-steel mesh hoses and lever-type shutoff valves, as shown below. With these, you can easily turn off the levers for both hot and cold water between wash days.

1) Check the fittings where the hoses connect to the faucets and to the back of the washing machine. Also look for worn or leaky hoses. Tighten couplings or hose clamps if needed, or replace the hoses altogether. Be sure to turn the water off before removing the hoses, and drain them into a bucket after disconnecting them.

2) Determine whether the machine is oversudsing, which can cause the machine to overflow. Reduce suds by pouring 1/2 cup white vinegar in 1 quart water into the washer. Then switch to either less detergent or a low-sudsing variety.

3) The machine may have a faulty basket gasket or tub seal and bearing that must be replaced; in this case, call an appliance repair person.

Washing Machine Keeps Filling with Water through Detergent dispen

This machine has a water valve that works on vaccuum from the tub. You will see a small clear hose that runs from the side of the tub up to this valve. This valve is adjustable to change the water level in the tub to desired setting on some machines, but if it goes bad, it will not shut off, thus overflowing the tub. Find this valve and replace it if adjustment does not work.

Hi, Did they check the pump seal or the hoses. Does it seem to leak from the front center? Is it leaking while filling or during agitation or spin cycle? Are you getting water every load and is it a little water or a lot?
Please forgive all the questions, I have to ask.

Water drains during spin cycle, but tub does not spin and appears to have dropped down. Machine does aggitate.

If you can move the tub by hand laterally - the rear main bearing has likely failed - or the drum rollers are worn.

Just moved. New washer leaks water and appears tub is off center

CHECK THE BALANCE SPRING LOCATED (INSIDE LEFT REAR OF MACHINE). IF SPRING IS OFF IT CAN CAUSE THE TUB TO TILT TOWARD THE FRONT AND THE TUB FILL HOOD WILL NOT BE OVER THE TUB DURING FILLING OR THE TUB WILL BE ERATIC DURING THE SPIN WHEN RINSE WATER IS SPAYING IN CAUSE ING THE WATER TO MISS THE TUB AND SPRAY OUTSIDE. THIS IS COMMON IF THE UNIT HAS BEEN MOVED OR PLACED ON IT'S SIDE OR CARRIED AT EXTREME ANGLE.
