Question about GE Profile PSW26P Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Fan in freezer under ice maker won't stop running.

It's driving me insane at night!!! It is a 3 year old GE Profile Arctica. Freezer is "freezing" and refrigerator is "cold" and seems to be in working order. Fan stops when I open either side then goes back on upon closing. I have determined it is the fan on the freezer side though. Could it be hitting the cover?

Thanks I have the same problem. Keep hearing like a wooshing sound every time I close the door and it is annoying. I will check out the offered solution of the fan under the ice maker.

    Thanks!

I have checked into this area....fan is still running and hitting something! Can't find where to detach cover for fan! I found a screw that holds the light cover on. Anyone have a clue how to get the fan cover off?

I also get a whooshing sound from the fan in my freezer. It seems to be constant. it is very annoying.

This could be a fan motor problem. Check to see if the fans are running and if not take a look at this page http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/refrigerator-fan-motor.html

If the compressor is not running this page will help http://appliance-repair-it.com/GErefrigeratorrepair.html

There could be a defrost problem, look on the back wall of the freezer to see if it is covered with heavy frost. If so your problem is that it is not defrosting. This page will help http://appliance-repair-it.com/GE-refrigerator-repair.html

GE Profile Arctica PSS25SGNA BS Icemaker is not working seems to be filling with water but no ice.

The water dispenser and ice maker side run separate sides of the water control valve. Fill ice maker with tap water and let it freeze. If it dumps the ice then does not refill then the water control valve is the problem. I will be back soon with a photo and some links, Thanks, Sea Breeze
