Power Supply Problem

My emachine T5026 will simply not turn off. As Windows closes to shutdown, the computer just keeps restarting. The bug doctor said it was a problem with the video card and to upgrade to the latest driver. I did so. No change. Eventually, Blue screen of death appears if I try to shutdown the usual way. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL I have researched the symptoms and wonder if the power supply can become corrupted etc. to cause this problem? The computer does seem to be running quirky..I manually turn it off and on...but it does not seem to take any time to recycle...the screen flickers a bit before windows is available. Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated. BTW, I thought of just replacing the video card- but that can not be done on this model. Thanks....

Re: Power Supply Problem

Hi, I came acroos a similar problem on an older model of emachine. If I remember it right what I did was to update the chipset and agp and other drivers (especially the lan card). The T5026 uses Intel 915GV. Most of what you probably would need can be found at Most of the updates are chipset and OS specific. Good luck and please let me know how this works out for your. Cheers.

In my opinion you have a faulty power supply, replacing only the fan may not solve your problem. Try replacing the power supply.

There can be two problems with your PC. either the power supply is faulty which is highly probable, and the other is that your Motherboard maybe faulty or both things are faulty. Try replacing the Power supply first. It should solve your problem.

Have T5026 emachine with boot problem

Sounds to me that theres a good chance that the windows files are corrupted. It is possable that its could be hardware, but software is free so start there.

If youve got the recovery disks then put them in and restart. Just attemp a repair of your windows. its worth a shot. you may need to go into your boot setting to boot from disks.

if you havnt got them and you havnt got warrenty them youll have to format the drive and install a fresh copy of windows, and find all the drivers from the emachines after.

1st get all the stuff off the drive that you need/want, take the drive out and connect it to another pc or use some sort of external connection.

then find a copy of windows that matches the licence sticker on the case of your pc. throw the hdd back in and boot the disk, format the drive and install windows.

youll have to get the drivers from

Computer will not turn on

Best way to check is to open your case. Near the power supply plug to the motherboard should be a little led light. If it is getting power to the board this light should be green. If it's unlit then most likely your power supply has gone bad. Hope this helps.
