Re: Kenmore Oven gives fault code F3 when you turn on...
Check the sensor harness, and the sensor harness connections at the sensor and oven control for an open circuit. Check for resistance on the sensor. It should not read as an open circuit. If the sensor shows resistance and the wiring and connections show continuity, then the problem is most likely on the control board itself. Possibly a bad connector or crack. You will probably have to replace the controller board (clock).

Fault codes for Amana ovens, range, stoves including dual convection wall overs and 'big ovens'. ... F3-1 - Oven Temperature Sensor/Circuit Failure - Check wire connections and ... what does it mean when the oven turns off and f3 shows ... My Amanaagds902ww gas range flashes "Door" when attempting to light the oven.
Here a list of Whirpool oven fault codes. The codes had been collected from different service manuals. This was a memo that I wrote for my own use. I think this can be useful to owners and technicians.
WHIRLPOOL - most models Range/Stove and Oven Fault Codes, Common error codes.

F1 E6:0 - Latch signal mismatch error Replace ERC F2 E0:4 - Shorted key error Replace keypad assembly F2 E1:3 Keytail unplugged reinsert the keytail F3 E0:5 Top oven sensor open Test and replace top probe. F3 E1:6 Top oven shorted Test and replace temp probe F3 E2:9 Bake range over temperature Test and replace temp probe F3 E3:8 Clean range over temperature Test and replace temp probe. F3 E4:10 Bottom oven sensor open Test and replace temp probe F3 E:15 Bottom oven sensor shorted Test and replace temp probe F5 E0:14 Door switch errot Test and eventually replace door lock switch F5 E1:16 Door latch not operating Test and eventually replace door latch F8 E0:17 Refrigeration error Test the cooling module. PF Power failure - Does not indicate a fault. PF occurs when power is disconnected.
WHIRLPOOL Models SF3, 30'' and 24"
F2 - Oven temperature above specifications Check 8-pin connector from temp. probe to Electronic Oven Control F3 - Open oven temperature probe failure Check wiring, replace oven probe if necessary F4 - Shorted oven temperature sensor failure Check wiring harness, replace oven temperature probe if necessary F5 - Push button stuck or faulty Check for binding of pushbuttons and control panel glass. If OK, replace touch panel F6 - Electronic control logic error (timing) Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC) F7 - Electronic control logic error (lock motor) Replace ERC. F8 - Electronic control logic error Replace ERC.
The "F3" fault indicates an open oven sensor probe or an open sensor circuit. The oven temperature sensor is no longer available. The oven temperature sensor circuit also has thermal fuse connected in a series circuit in one of the two wires in the sensor circuit. Based on the fault code, the sensor is faulty or the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse comes with the oven temperature sensor. Here is the part to order.
Hi Thanks for using FixYa. Error F3 in your range/oven means oven temperature sensor circuit failure. To resolve this issue you'll have to check the oven temp. sensor circuit if the reading is more then 1100ohms then check the wire harness connecting the control & sensor (as you have already replaced the sensor) however, if the rating is fine then it is the Electronic Range Control (ERC) that has gone bad & should be replaced. Please rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance. ThanksRylee

F3 is Open oven temperature sensor
circuit. F4 Shorted oven temperature sensor
circuit . F7 Component failure.
To fix this you need to read oven temperature sensor
circuit at oven temperature sensor ( approx 1000
ohms at room temp); check for cut or pinched wire or loss
of contact, if wirings are ok, then replace the probe.
Well here's the details about those codes: F2 :- 1. The oven temp has risen above 665F and the door is not locked or 2. The temp has risen above 965F with the door locked
1. Check oven temp in mode that failure occurred. Replace EOC (Electronic Oven Control) if above limits F3:- Oven temperature sensor is open (above 3000 ohms)
Check resistance of oven temperature sensor, check for open wiring between oven temperature sensor
Circuit board defective
Replace control board
1. The oven temp has risen above 665F and the door is not locked or 2. The temp has risen above 965F with the door locked
1. Check oven temp in mode that failure occurred. Replace EOC (Electronic Oven Control) if above limits 2. Check 8-pin connector. Check and replace oven temperature sensor if necessary
Oven temperature sensor is open (above 3000 ohms)
Check resistance of oven temperature sensor, check for open wiring between oven temperature sensor and control
Oven temperature sensor is shorted (below 500 ohms)
Check resistance of oven temperature sensor, check for shorted wiring between oven temperature sensor and control
Internal watchdog circuit has detected a failure
Defective EOC (Electronic Oven Control)
Check push buttons and dome switches on control
Logic interrupted (lock motor switch sequence)
Check door lock switches and wiring
Most likely problem is the oven temp. sensor. Should check around 1100 ohms at room temp. I would replace that first because it is the easiest and cheaper than an oven control.
