REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

See Figures 1, 2 and 3

  1. Tag and unplug the wiring connectors from the coil and the coil wire.
  2. Unfasten the retainers securing the coil bracket and coil to the manifold.
  3. Remove the coil and bracket and drill out the two rivets securing the coil to the bracket.
  4. Remove the coil from the bracket.

To install:
The replacement coil kit may come with the two screws to attach the coil to the bracket. If not, you must supply your own screws.

  1. Fasten the coil to the bracket using two screws.
  2. Fasten the coil and bracket to the manifold. Tighten the retainers until they are snug.
  3. Engage the coil wire and the wiring connectors to the coil.

Hi I have a1988 chevy k1500 died changed coil dist wire from coil to dist have fuel no spark any ideas thanks
remove dist cap and rotor, under the rotor there is a control module (its about 1/4" tall, 1" wide, and 2-2 1/2" long) remove the module and take it to a parts store and have it tested. If its bad replace it and put dist back together and try starting it again. if thats not it then have coil check. Oh ya before you take anything apart disconect battery.

sounds like its breaking down, check your ignition system, test your leads, check your plugs, check your ignition coils etc etc etc.

You might have a bad ignition coil. Exchange the #5 coil with another position and see if the "missing" follows the suspected bad coil. If not, then check for a bad # 5 spark plug wire.

Misses bad uses alot of gas
it probley has a bad coil. it has 3 coils so you need to find which one is bad. connect a test light to neg bat term. with engine idling poke test light through the plug boots at the coil one at a time. if it does not drop any rpms on one of the coil towers. that coil is the suspect. good luck.
