Question about Husqvarna Viking 1

Open Question

Embroidery unit on Viking #1 plus will not stich properly

I did a Monogram this afternoon came out beautiful. Went to stich something else and the unit is jumping around. The machine stitches allother stitches beautifully. I am wondering if the embroidery unit is bad. I have had the machine for over 15 years and have not used the unit extensively. Pulled it out for the first time in five years to make Xmas gifts and now it does not work!
Very frustrating to say the least. has anyone else had this problem?

I encountered the same problem with my Orchidea. I was embroidering a certain design - worked perfectly. Then suddenly it would embroider something that does not quite resemble the design when I wanted to duplicate the design. I tried to reload the design on the programmable card, but it does not solve the problem.

SOURCE: Will a Husqvarna #1 Plus embroidery unit work on a Husqvarna Rose machine?

I am sorry to inform you that Husqvarna # 1 embroidery unit does not fit onto the Rose machine. The terminals on the Rose is upright, while on the H # 1 it is flat. If you want to do embroidery on the Rose, you will have to purchase the embroidery unit.

Sad but true

SOURCE: How do I change the stiches?

You can do all of these stitches by using different combinations of your stitch selector, stitch width and stitch feed knobs, for instance, on the panel I can see on your machine:

http://www.jo-ann.com/joann/product/images/52659.jsp?CATID=cat3122&PRODID=prd11333

Stitches 1, 2 & 3 are straight stitches, centered, left and right. Really basic stuff, not different stitches at all. 4,5,6,7 & 8 are zig-zag stitches of different widths. 9 is the widest zig-zag (no. 8) on a finer stitch length, etc...

I think you should try and get an instruction manual for your machine. After a lengthy search of my usual manual sources, I've determined that that this may not be so easy. I think you should contact White on their 800 number and let them try and help you... 1-800-331-3164.

If you found this helpful, please vote generously as I receive nothing other than acknowledgement for my time.

SOURCE: machine will not sew forward without backstitching

You have selected the Stretch Stich (SS) mode on the stitch length regulator, just turn the knob around until you have a number 1 - 5 and that should be it.
The model number will be the last digits on the metal compliance plate with voltage etc.....looks like:
V / 1234 / 123454321 / 2016
www.bargainbox.com.au
This then would be a Model 2016

SOURCE: CONSEW 206RB5 TOP THREAD NOT FORMING STITCHES AND BREAKING

you have your thread tension too tight that's why it is pulling the bottom stitch all the way through it looks good from the bottom but not good on top. Its pulled the stitch all the way through the material.
I had my own upholstery shop 18 yrs and tension gets you every time.Just loosen the top tension.

My machine does not recognize that the embroidery unit is attached. It keeps saying attach embroidery unit. Has anyone had this problem

What make and model of sewing machine do you have? I have seen this problem with a Husqvarna Viking Designer I (or similar older Viking machine). In that case, the problem was corrosion on the contacts between the embroidery unit and the sewing machine. The solution was to use an electronic contact cleaner to clean the contacts; this is one product: http://www.amazon.com/CRC-05101-QD-Electronic-Cleaner/dp/B000CCMLD0 . Make sure that the machine is unplugged. Spray the contact cleaner on the contacts. (In some cases, you should then connect the embroidery unit to the machine and remove it a few times.) Allow the product to dry before you plug in the sewing machine again.

In another case, the solution was actually easier. The owner had two similar embroidery machines. She managed to mix up which embroidery unit went with which sewing machine. Neither embroidery unit could be properly seated on the machine that she attempting to use it with. Once the embroidery unit was paired with the correct machine, both pairs worked.

I hope this helps.

I am trying to figure out how to monogram. I keep having trouble adjusting my machine.

For doing a manual monogram (by hand, not using embroidery unit) Follow these steps.

1. Put on the "N" foot ( This is your open toe foot, so you can see easier)

2. Select the zig zag stitch (Should be #4, right next to the straight stitch)

3. Hit the stitch adjustment button on the screen ( Lower left)

4. Set the width (Will have a zig zag "/\/\/\/" icon) to whatever size you would like (Usually 4.0mm to7mm)

5. Set the length (will have a line "---------" icon) to a very short setting

You're now setup for a monogram. You might like this video too for using your embroidery unit.
Let me know if you have any more questions,
Chris

I am trying to embroider something for the first time on my viking #1 husqvarna. Do I need presser foot Q/ or R/ .If it's R,I can't find it-what does it look like? I need someone to walk me thru the steps...

embroider on #1+:
If it's a #1+ I recommend the Q (the spring works better) it's hard to put on, but worth it.
Here we go:
1>Turn off machine (always when installing or removing embroidery unit)
2>Install Q Foot. Always leave presser foot pressure (on left end of machine) at 6 for presser foot Q
3>Insert Embroidery Card
4>Insert Embroidery cassette (matching #’s with card)
5>turn on machine
6>Turn on embroidery unit (on cassette)
7>Select design
7>Thread for color 1
8>press reverse to start the machine embroidering....weeeeeeeee!

#1 Viking Embroidery #13 Set.

Turn machine off, install embroidery unit, card and button pad. Turn on the machine, press the "on" button on the keypad to turn on the embroidery unit. Select the design that you want to stitch using the keypad, thread the colors in order from the list in the book, change colors when the machine stops and prompts for the next color.
