Re: 8525 Keeps going from Landscape to portrait for no...
The switch is actually caused by a magnet, automatic switching can be caused by the sliding screen becoming loose. one of the most common causes of the screen auto-switching is using a phone holder with a magnetic flap like many new holders have instead of a velcro flap.

Seems like their could be potentially a mechanical problem with regards to the screen orientation.
Or your settings could be wrong.
Whilst in the Internet browser you can change from portrait to landscape by pressing the menu key, Touching the "more" tab, and then scrolling down to "flip orientation".
Due to this being a possible hardware problem i would advise contacting T-Mobile Customer support to see if they have a remedy. Although, in the near future, an application will be released for android giving the G1 Auto-Orientation features using the phones built in accelerometer.
Full screen usually only works for video. A few questions:
1) Are you watching video or is this a music file?
2) Have you tried pressing the zero key/button while the file is playing?
- If so, do you see any error messages?
- Does the screen change, flash, or flicker?
Please respond to the question above when you have an opportunity and we'll take things from there.

your hardware slide sensor is probably broken. go to start>settings, tap the screen tap at the bottom, tap the screen applicaton, change orientation to "landscape". your phone will be permanently in landscape mode, which is better anyway, since the screen rotation is annoying as hell.
