Need a recover disk for a gateway midtower desktop
I had to have my computer repaired and I missing a audio driver. I can not find my orginal recovery disk. The company wants me to buy the driver. If I can find the recovery disk as a real low price that would be great.

I pulled this from the Gateway manual for your machine. It is a generic guide. If this doesn't work, you may not have a recovery partition on your hard drive and should have made recovery disks when originally getting the unit. Good Luck!
From the Gateway Manual......
Recovering from the hard drive during startup:
To reinstall Windows and all pre-installed software and drivers:
1. Turn on your computer, then press Alt+F10 during startup. Gateway
Recovery Management opens.
2. Click on Restore system from factory default.
Caution: Continuing the process will erase all files on your hard
3. Click on Next. Your hard drive's original, factory-loaded contents are
recovered. This process will take several minutes.
You need to repair your windows system files. for that insert windows disk or recovery disk into cd /dvd rom then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALT+F2 key to enter in bios then you can see bios configuration page then go to boot menu and set first boot device as cd/dvd rom then save settings and exit from bios . then it boot with disk follow the procedure on screen then first choose recovery console then type in console "chkdsk /r" it fix and recovers error on harddrive. Then restart computer then again boot and this time choose R for "Repair previous windows" then it repair it then you can use your windows again. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
Be sure to download the audio, video, motherboard and modem drivers. Just put them on a san disk or equivalent media storage device. When you have installed the drivers check the device manager to see if anything else is missing (a yellow question mark next to a device name). Hope you get fixed.
you can order any replacement dics from the orginal company gateway. depending on how new the computer is your system might actually come with a system restore option that will bring it back to factory settings.
if you don't have the correct audio driver on your recovery discs and can't find them on gateway's web site there's one other thing to do - make sure you are current with your windows updates. in most cases i've seen, driver updates for most devices will be included in these updates - i rely on it a lot of computers i work on, especially gateways since they are annoying to find drivers for.
it is all to do with the installation. You will need to install windows freshly. the disks you are using sound like they are recovery disks but if you have formatted your harddrive then they may not work.
if you have a windows disk and are trying to load it and are having problems doing this then let me know
