Re: easy rip for opal mp3 player isnt working
There are ways to work around the easy rip. If its mp3's you want on it you can drag and drop them into the opal folder. If you want smv video files you need to. you need two programs. 1st program is http://www.any-dvd-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ (free program) It lets you change all video formats to mpeg is the setting I like then after its an mpeg. You use http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm (free Program) It converts the files to smv (video file that Opal accepts)

If you mp3 you can just drag and drop them into the mp3/4 player. However if you want vidoe's for it you need to convert them with this app and its free. http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm then just drag and drop the converted files. This works much better than the easy rip.
I had the same problem. I was able to get my new music on mine through my windows media player, then able to sync it on to my RCA MP3. I am not very good with technology but it worked for me. I guess the media player is my default program.
That Opal's Easy Rip Software does not recognize Real Video format naturally. You may have to download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder to convert the Real Video files to AVI format. Once they are in AVI format, the Easy Rip software will recognize the file and convert them to your player. If you have lost your installation CD, you can get the Easy Rip software from: www.rcaopal.com
Use a free program such as Riva FLV Encoder to convert the Real Video files to aVI format. Once they are in AVI format, the RCA Easy Rip software should recognize the video files, and you can use the Easy Rip software to convert/transfer them to your player.
RCA Opal - Stuck on "Initializing" (Update - the website changed once again to www.rcaopal.com) Go to this website to reload the firmware: http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/voxrightnow.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1415&p_created=1202430585&p_sid=CwOaz8ej&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTIsMTImcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0wJnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfbmwmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1pbml0aWFsaXppbmc*&p_li=&p_topview=1 Note: websites are subject to change - if you go to http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com and go to the page for the RCA Opal m series, you can also find the firmware reload on that page.
Plug your RCA M4208GR-B MP3 player into your computer with the USB cord. After the computer recognizes it. STEP 1 click start STEP 2 click MY COMPUTER STEP 3 Right click the associated drive letter (i.e. OPAL) to show the option menu. STEP 4 click "install RCA easy rip"
did you first import media to your easy rip, if not that could be the problem. otherwise I a not sure what it could be but easy rip is not that great of a software, once you import the song and decide to move its location you have to import it again and duplicates remain on easy rip which is very annoying, but thats another issue. If you want you can also use windows media player to add music by syronize your MP3 with it. this could be alot simpler.
