I have a toshiba sat a65-s1062, yes its time to get a new computer. Anyway, I just got a PS3 and I want to be able to rip dvd's into an external hardrive and then tranfer them to my ps3. Well, I'm suppose to format the external hardrive to FAT32 (whatever that means). Well I can't seem to find that option under "format."

My a65 s1062 was crushed, my hard drive wasn't damaged. I have removed it from the a65. I have since purchased a Toshiba L655-s5160, I would like to transfer all data from the old hard drive to the new...

Connect your old hard drive to an USB hard drive adapter (better still insert it into an USB hard drive adapter case and you can use it as an USB hard drive), then plug it into the USB port of the Toshiba.
The Toshiba will see this as an external storage device, and you can open the various folders and files to copy/backup.

I need to restore my Satellite A65 to out of box state. The DVD stopped working as well. The recovery disk is a DVD. I tried to put it on a pin drive and restore from there. As I suspected, it restarts...

Starting with Windows Vista there is a big leap in doing a system restore or recovery. Windows 7 also has the same options. In case your system is not displaying any GUI or there is crash more often , just follow these
  • Press F8 when your computer starts.
  • Choose System Recovery which should be the first option
  • You will be prompted for user name password which should be an administrator account.
  • Next you will get 5 ways of making a restore : Startup repair, System Restore, Windows complete pc restore, Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and Command prompt

System Recovery tools in Windows Vista and Windows 7
Out of the 5 options, Windows Complete PC restore is used when you have backup of your pc or at least of the drive where you had installed windows. Command prompt recovery mode is only for advanced users and Memory Diagnostic tool is only used when windows gives notification to you and asks you to run it. Else it is not required to run it.

Is there a way to restore factory settings (out of the box settings) for the Toshiba Satellite A65-S1062?

Hi blackrose696. There's 2 ways. 1.- If you go to My Computer and see a partition (probably D:) called recovery, go to Start - All Programs - and see if you see under Toshiba - something called recovery or restore (you WILL loose ALL your data) and follow the instruction. If you DO see the partition but you dont see anything under Toshiba folder, then restart the computer and inmediately you will see something like Press F10 or F12 to boot from recovery partition.
If you dont see the recovery partition. The only way is using the Restore CDs... if you dont have those you have to order them from the Toshiba website. (they cost like $15) so that way you are sure you get the license and the drivers correctly. I hope this helps. Please do not forget to rate and provide positive feedback from our support today. Thank you :D

Toshiba A65-S1062 - This laptop overheats and shuts down.

I bet that you had your laptop on all the time.
Your heat sink is saturated with dust and grit.
you may have to open up the unit and use a can of dust remover to clean the fins on the heat sink out. it is causing your CPU to shut down bucause it is becoming overheated.
Happy Fixing =)
