Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television
Magnavox model 8p6044 c101 with a chassis ptv 810 ah01 The tv was working fine when my daughter said it didnt work. I replaced the fuse and still have same problem. When power button is pushed the power light comes on and goes right off with no picture or sound except for a little tiny pop in the speakers. I have looked over the boards but dont see anything burnt or damaged, not that i would know if i seen it
Take a look at the blue round capacitors. They stand on end and about the size of a dime and 1/8" thick. They should be by the highvoltage transformer. That's the plastic box with a spark-plug wire sticking out the top. The circuit board should have numbers printed by the parts. Look for c811 or C8** . The C means capacitor and the 800 numbers means the circuit it's in. This is a horizontal output capacitor your looking for. You will see it burnt. Might not be blue...could be yellow or orange. But you should know what kind of capacitor to look for by the description I gave. This seemed to be a problem with these sets....or atleast one problem of MANY. If it's not that, then you need big time service. I wouldn't waste your money on a Magnavox. They just don't hold-up to repairs very well. If you find the burnt part, let me know what the location is...C8**....and I'll tell you what the value is. You won't beable to read it if it's burnt. Now atleast you know what your looking at. Sometimes if you have someone turn the set on while you look at the board in a dark room, it will spark. Hope that helps. Good-luck.
