We have a GE profile ( model DPSQ495ET4WW ) it is so VERY noisy!!
Sometimes it will be a quite squeek then it will get loud like something is rubbing the drum. Its so loud we can hear it upstairs with the laundry room door closed. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I have an earsplitting squealing problem with my GE dryer. It is older. Model # DDE 5300GALAD, Serial # FV216914G. I sprayed two different kinds of lubricant on the pulley and the belt, several different times. This seemed to eventually make it worse. We need earplugs at this point and it is in the basement.

Have a G.E. DRYER PDVH515 . It squeeks, roughly on every rotation of drum. Not a consistant long noise. It's been going on for some time now so wondering if greater damaged may be done? Thankyou

The sound is most likely from the rear drum teflon bearing failing. It may also be the front teflon glides. Or both.

The problem is not going to get better and will gradually get worse. You won't do any real damage if you continue to use the dryer.

However, if the sound stops being a squeak, and sounds more like a grinding, metal to metal sound, stop using it and call the repairman.

New GE Profile Dryer makes intermittent loud squeeking or rubbing

Your drum may be out of round. The drum belt on the outside of the drum may be rubbing against the cabinet. When the cabinet heats up, the side walls of the cabinet may be bowing inward, thus making contact with the belt on the drum. This would explain why it is intermittant. When the heater turns off, the cabinet cools and the sides bow back out.

Squeeks loadly when running

The drum belt is slipping or a support wheel bearing is worn.  Spray some belt dressing on the belt or replace the belt.  Lubricate the wheel bearing or replace it.  It is also possible that the seal between the drum and the housing (at the back) is worn and the drum is rubbing metal-to-metal on the housing.

Ge profile dryer dpgt750gc1pl

Is your dryer gas or electric? I think based on your model number, it possibly looks like your dryer is gas. Regardless, you need to look at what the service mode troubleshooter tells you. To access it:

1. Press the POWER key to turn the dryer on.
2. Press HELP. The main help screen is displayed.
3. Press and hold MY CYCLES and BACK simultaneously for 3 seconds. Press EXIT to return to the HOME screen.

Let me know what it tells you and I can help you further from there.

GE Dryer DPSR483GA2WW too noisy

Remove the rear panel from the unit. This should expose the motor, drive belts, and the drum bearings. Now turn on the unit and your may be able to determine where the noise is coming from. Keep your hands away from moving parts and electrical connections!!

BELT REPLACEMENT

Take off the front kick plate (bottom panel) then remove the front panel. The top panel will be attached to the front panel by some plastic push in retainers you can loosen with a screwdriver. The belt will go around the drum on top to a drive wheel at the bottom of the machine. you will have to slip the belt around the drum in the front or back of the drum to get it around it.
