Hi G,

99% of the time the error is the fuser. Either it is damaged, or just not locked in place, and with power off, reseating it will fix the error. Since you just replaced the fuser, I guess the question is did you do it because it was also giving this error, or because it reached EOL ( end of life ).

If it was for EOL message, I would try reinstalling it. If the "reseat fuser" error goes away, but comes back with the new fuser again, then the new fuser you purchased is defective and should be returned or exchanged.

See the information below to correctly troubleshoot your issue.

The following steps are the troubleshooting steps that should be followed for error code 010 397.
First, the definition of the failure is <IOT Fuser Failure>, and means a Fuser Error is detected.

1) With power off, reseat the fuser by physically removing it from the printer, then reinstalling it and locking it in place. Turn the power back on. ( if the error is still present, proceed to step 2 ).

2) If reseating the fuser did not resolve the problem, Replace the fuser with a known good fuser.
( if problem is not resolved, proceed to step 3)

3) Replace the LVPS ( low voltage power supply ). ( if problem not resolved, proceed to step 4 ).

4) Replace the PWBA MCU ( printed wiring board assembly - machine control unit ).

END of troubleshooting.........

In most cases, the fuser itself is the problem. If you tried to reseat or replace the fuser while power was still on, the LVPS could have been damaged just as if there were an electrical storm.

Hopefully this helped.

SOURCE: Printing Cartridge error

I've seen this problem before and it turned out to be a faulty chip on the cartridge as opposed to a problem with the printer. Canon should replace the cartridge free of charge if this happens.

SOURCE: Reseat imaging unit notice won't go away

The Phaser 6250 has a known flaw in the design of the gear slide assembly associated with the door over the imaging unit. One of the teeth has skipped and will require a service tech to "realign Rack-V". It's an easy fix if pictures/diagrams could be posted, but I'm not recommending a novice to attempt this fix without them. "Reseat Imaging Unit" error is a common fix for Xerox printer techs familiar with the 6250.

SOURCE: image unit reseat

Under the hood, between the LED rasterizers (four of them, one for each of CMY & K), there are rockers with a small but powerful magnet. When the lid is closed, the magnet will touch the top of the toner cartridge, which in turn, has a magnet on a rod that goes up and down with the rollers when the toner is churned in the cartridge. If the toner magnet is not in the position it is supposed to be (you can check it's position with a hand held magnet), the sensor will falsely interpret that no cartridge is present. You may need to replace the toner cartridge.

Or if you have more time than money, empty the toner cartridge into a clean vessel, disassemble the cartridge, fix the magnet-on-a-wire assembly, reassemble the cartridge, and replace the toner from the holding vessel. It is possible that the magnets are getting weak, so check them, both on the rocker and on the cartridge.

On the other hand, I've noticed the rocker switches get sticky in lower temperatures (I keep my 2135 in the garage). Maybe a shot of WD40 on the rocker would help, but to do that, you'll need to remove the lid. It's not too hard, there's only about 9 screws, after removing the back panel (another 4 or 5 screws), After a few more screws around the toner sensor panel (a PCB), you disconnect some quick-disconnect switches, and then you can see the rockers (the actual switches are opto-electrical components on the PCB, you might clean them with alcohol, but they are discrete packages that can't be repaired).

This is a major flaw in the Xerox 2135 (probably persists in the 7300 series as well) and the OKI 9200/9300 series upon which the 2135 is based. There's way too much that can go wrong, but the killer is that nothing except the sensor is failing. Very frustrating!

Hi there

For troubleshooting purposes,
Perform the following:

1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.

2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.

3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank
properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as
they are not currently installed in the printer.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.

5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are
installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if
you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink
tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of
the issue is the last ink tank.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Check ink U071 cyan

Are you using genuine ink cartridges? If not, then perhaps there is no microchip on your ink cartridge. You can take the old chip off your used cartridge and put it on this cartridge and see if this solves your problem.

Usually, it only takes on at a time. there  should only be 4 colors: Cyan, Yellow, Magenta and Black. Some printers have 8, one set is very small which is used for the printhead, but, they are still the same combo of colors. In that case is the only time you will have 2 of each color a small one for the printhead and a larger on for the actual printing.
