Question about Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (WM3945AGMW1WB)

Wireless network adapter not recognized after reformatting

My laptop, a Dell inspiron E1505, was recently infected with a trojan virus that rendered in inoperative. After reformatting the hard drive to overcome this problem and reinstalling the OS and all drivers, I am unable to connect to the internet. Reason being that the system is not recognizing my wireless network adapter. My laptop info. indicates that Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g mini card was installed. However, after reformatting the hard drive, this adapter is not being recognized. It is showing that an alternative network adapter is installed and is recognized - a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller Rev. A17. I seem to remember using the Intel PRO/Wireless driver before reformatting the hard drive but, which do I use? Either? How do I get one or the other to work?

Thanks, I downloaded the appropriate software and driver from Dell and the drivers are now recognized, however, I am still getting the message that "no networks are within reach" even though I am sitting five feet away from my home router, and I am being told to check that my "network switch is turned on". I don't have a physical network switch to turn on. What else could it be? Should I be making some adjustment to the driver configuration or to my network connection?

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop. I recently reformatted it. Now It does not recognize wireless connections. I cant connect to the net Can anyone help?

When you reinstalled Windows, Windows probably did not include a driver for your wireless adapter. A driver tells Windows how to interface with a certain device, such as a wireless adapter. You can easily download the driver online and install it. Once installed, restart the computer and you should again have the ability to connect to wireless networks.
I've gone to the Dell website for you and found the correct driver. Please visit this link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WLH&catid=5&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1525&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=False&scanConsent=False
On that website, I would first try downloading the first driver on the list. If that doesn't enable your wireless after a reboot, try the other ones. After the correct driver is installed, your wireless will be working again.

I replaced the hardrive on my dell inspiron e1505 when the original died but now it does not indicate a wireless connection area-do i need to replace a wireless card?

No. You need to install the driver for the wireless adapter. Go to the Dell website under support, enter your service tag number, go to driver downloads, download the driver for the adapter, and install in your computer.

I had to restore my dell inspirion E1505, and it says i have no wireless network, how do i turn this worless network back on?

Hi,
You need to check for the wireless switch located on your laptop. Once the wireless switch is on, you'll be able to see networks in range and you will be able to connect to your network wireless.
Good Luck!

How can I remove this virus from my computer: TROJ_Gen.MZ40M2?

Hi sjartz, you can try this step:

restart the pc and press F8 repeatedly and select SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING

then select windows OS that you have...

Then click start then type the trojan name under search box and hit enter... Then your pc will find where the trojan is located...

If the trojan is hidden, click the view tab and click show hidden files and folders... Computer will find the trojan so that you could manually delete it..

If symptom persist then consult to the tech support of your PC vendor..

Hope this help...

I have an inspiron E1505 and i am trying to connect to my network to get rid of viruses. I am trying to connect using Intel ProSet/Wireless, but I am still not able to connect. Any suggestions?

Hi
Need to know when you try to search the network in the intel proset , does it find the network name or not . ie. does it see your wireless connection.

Alternatively you can use the following link for troubleshooting

I just bought a replacement 9 cell battery and a 90 watt power adapter for my Dell E1505. With the new battery and power adapter my battery indicator light keeps flashing green and the battery doesn't...

If a new DELL ac adapter (3rd party Adapters are not recognized and the charging circuit is disabled) and a new battery doesn't resolve then the charging circuit on the motherboard is bad

Check Control Panel - System - Hardware to see if you have a wireless card listed under Network Adaptor.
Click on it to see if the driver is installed ok.
Does the laptop have a switch or function key to enable the wireless?
