Hp dv9000 freezes up halfway through a video

I've had this problem since I owned this thing. I think it played all the way through a movie once or twice, but since then it plays about halfway through a full length movie. Then either... The screen goes black, but audio continues. I cntrl/alt/delete and end program. OR the screen goes crazy diagonal lines on a whitish-gray screen. Totally frozen and have to power off. please help.

I have the same problem and someone told me to just get a can of air and blow out the vents underneath, because it is caused from over heating from sitting on laps or bedding...I just tried this and it has helped so far...

If this has been a problem since you bought it, you should add more memory and or use a different movie program

How to stop buffering

  • 1 Allow the movie to load completely, or at least halfway, before you start to watch it to stop video buffering.
  • 2 Start the movie and then hit stop until the movie has fully or halfway loaded. As the movie is loading, you should see a yellow or gray line. The line you see will get longer as it loads.
  • 3 Close all windows that you don't need. Having too many windows open will slow the loading process.
  • 4 Resume play once the movie is at least halfway loaded or fully loaded. By this time, you should be able to enjoy the movie without the video buffering or constant starting and stopping.

Game keeps crashing at the in game movies, no matter how much progress i've made, and after that i have to delete the game data so that I can play it and last time I did that it didn't work...

The only thing I can think of is that the disc is scratched but you only played it once so I dont see how that could be the problem. Try seeing if there is any patches for the game or the system and go from there.

Quickplay movie clips

You probably simply need the correct "Codecs" you need to find out the Movies extn... ie some are whatevername.MOV or whatevername.WMV etc. Once you know this then you can get the "Codec" that will allow player to work with it. Simply Google for it.

How long is the battery on a HP Pavilion dv9000 supposed to last?

Laptop batteries will usually last from 1.5 to 5 hours, depending upon the demand, the battery and the use. Sound burns up a lot of juice as does the DVD player so if you're watching movies or playing games an hour is about right. You can purchase a better HP PAVILION DV9000 Battery with 12 cell , it will work longger.

HP DV9000 won't boot up past the HP splash screen, can't enter bios or access boot menu. It just keeps starting over, freezing, then starting over again.

Hi,
I think your hard drive has failed. It keeps searching for the boot sector. The boot sector is broken so the hard drive keep starting over to search for it.

Hp pavillon dv9000 error beeps

Now video? All the lights are on? Tree beep codes? A long one followed by two shorte once? Found solution, at least with my two HP dv9000 series laptops. The video chip on the bottom side of motherboard needs to be re-flowed. The best way to check it is to apply decent pressure on the left side of keyboard until you feel that you’ve pressed the motherboard against the bottom side of laptop. Good for couple start ups unless you hit it hard J. If it works, find a manual on HP site how to take your laptop apart and use this video how to re-flow motherboard.
