Hello we have a Ricoh FT7650 and it's print outs are extremely light. We put a new toner in, cleaned the glass, and cleaned the drum but it is EXACTLY the same. After reading up on it some I assume it is probably the Developer that has gone in it and we need to add more. I've already purcahsed some for our machine from precisionrollers.com. BUT I have no idea how to add it to the machine. I've looked in it but can't seem to figure it out and obviously it isn't it the manual:) I do have the code to get into the operating controls to reset the developer and calibrate it but I just do not know how to add it. If someone could please help me I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!!

machine needs drum and developer, but a temporary fix would be...open front door near notice green handle where toner is replaced, look to the right of green handle and down about 2 or 3 inches, you should see a plastic or chrome cover the size of a postage stamp, remove the cover and you should see a 3/4 inch wide piece of glass barely sticking out, carefully grasp the glass and pull it out of machine, wipe the toner off the glass , put glass back in and replace cover , shut front cover and run copies .
Before we start first make sure the machine is turn-off for our safety process.
Question: 1. Did you try to change the other toner cartridge?
Possible cause and way to check Toner Change Problem & No more Printing: - Dirty Sensor (check all the sensor) - Dirty Glass (check all the glass) - The cartridge is not properly installed - Full Waste Toner section - The corona wire is dirty or broken (Inside the cartridge) - The transfer Unit is dirty or broken (Inside the cartridge) - Broken gear motor connected into the drum section - If they have developer include in this model try to check it and repalce if empty - Broken Fuser Film - Broken Fuser Lamp - Broken or dirty Cleaning Blade Section - Check if they have also chips include in the cartridge
Check all the possible cause and try to clean or replace the parts if broken.
When you see light print it can be from a few things. This is basically a laser printer with a fax machine so the same problems exist in both. The most common cause by far is simply low toner. If you take out the toner cartidge and gentl shake it side to side then put it back in. Now try printing again. This should be much darker. This may only last a few dozen pages (but can go a quite a bit more if you are lucky) but it shows you that you need to get a new toner cartridge. The other causes can be a image setting in the fax. In the control panel it will show you a setting for how dark it will print. Normally it is in the middle of the range. The last common thing is a fusor wire. This normally shows up as a error first but it can slowly fail. The fusor is the heater that bonds the toner to the paper. If it doesn't get hot enough then not all the toner sticks and you get light printing.
Please clean the drum charge roller use the izopropilalcool, clean the charge roller cleaning roller, clean use the vacuum cleaner the waste toner (located under transfer assembly 6 screw),activate the ATDC and AIDC sensor configuration.
1. Pull drum and toner unit out.
2. Clean the laser glass with a clean dry cloth, I think it's located on the bottom of this machin where the drum lies on top.
3. If the problem is a constant light on the side this should solve the problem. If it's not constant it could be the drum contacts that are not making positive contact with the machine.
4. If you use aftermarket or refill toner good luck with that. I've seen too many machine ruined by after market/refill toner and it allways starts with the light copies and toner spilling all over in the machine.
You could remove the color and black&white drum units and check from below the units to visually observe lines on all the 4 drums. If so, you have to change the drum unit/units. Drums occassionally get damaged before life this way due to solid toner particles inside the toner bottle.Always "shake the toners very well" before replacement, and if you print rarely, then remove the toners and do the shaking to prevent clogging due to inactivity.
Maybe your glass is dirty, with alcool and a clothe clean the glass. If you can go undernit go but be carefull for the miror inside.
The Drum may need to be replace to????
If you have a lot of copy (100 000) and more and never get service on it....I think your Developper as to be repalce...and if your not a tech you will not be able to replace it, because you have to calibrate and ajust..... But before that call a tech to see !
Is it only when you use the top feeder? Check by placing an original on the glass and copying if the same fault then there are three possibilities
Optics Dirty (Dust on the copying mirrors) Remove glass and clean the mirrors on the scan unit also remove the lens cover and clean the mirrors under there replace lens cover clean glass and refit. (Do Not remove any mirrors you can clean them in there place and use a glass cleaning solution)
Toner Waste and drum cleaning unit full. Open front cover and split machine as to remove jam not touching the drum (Large Cylinder ) check there is no banding on there. IF so to the left of drum there is a unit that contains the cleaning blade and fills with waste toner remove vacuum out waste toner check that cleaning blade ok and reinstall. Close and check machine if ok then great if not could be fault number 3 or that the cleaning blade is worn and need replacing.
The fuser section (Heat section) While the machine is split look at the bottom left you will see a Orange unit this is the fuser section that houses the heat roller which welds the toner to the page. Check that the top roller is OK that there is no toner stuck on it and the Teflon coating is even. If not then the fuser will need replacing and as you said that you are missing text the most likely faults are going to be the fuser or the drum or the drum cleaning blade.
hi im jules_09,the average copy life as we call it is 60,000 copies after that you will replace the drum, cleaning blade and the developer.see first if the copy meter is already above 60,000 copies then about the print i think it time for you to replace all that is mentioned
