I have a red and white dot on every picture I take, it is really noticable on dark objects, I have tried to clean the mirror, but am unsure if i'm doing it correctly. I now it's not the lens because I have multiple lens's and they all show the same dots in the same location. Any suggestions? Other than going to the local cam repair shop and paying over $100 for a cleaning?

"it no longer takes pictures" i'll need a bit more information from you but for now my first suggestion would be to (if the camera still powers up) try testing the shutter by finding the "sensor clean" option in your menu. (i don't have mine in front of me at the moment, but it's usually one of the last options) first remove the lens and select the sensor clean option. if the shutter opens, then the camera body itslef should be fine. the camera will instruct you how to close the shutter after. be extremely careful when the image sensor is exposed like this, make sure not to touch it and be sure to be in a clean area (dust on your sensor will frustrate you beyond belief) now i've had problem after problem with this standard 18-55mm lens. if the lens can't find a focal point, it won't fire. try switching to manual focus and see if it fires. if while focusing manually there is any resistence or grinding, chances are your lens is shot perhaps from being dropped or there is debris preventing auto focus mode to find a focal point. "i've had my camera for about a year" if you bought it new and have had it under a year, it should still be covered by warrenty and canon will take it back and make repairs (they gave me a new lens when this happened to me)

I have a cannon rebel xt and when the flash pops it it will no longer take a photo but works fine outside if flash is not needed?? Help

Does the little flash lightening bolt light up in the viewfinder to let you know the flash is fully charged? If it does, but when you push release it goes out and then comes on again in a few seconds that is the sign of a bad flash board.

Does the flash go all the way up?

Is the switch that is under the flash come all the way up (not stuck down)?

CANNON REBEL XSI WONT TAKE PICTURES, SCENE SAYS CARD WRITE PROTECTED SO NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO TAKE A PICTURE

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

How can you use the LCD screen in lieu of looking through the view finder to take pictures. This is for a Canon EOS Rebel XT.

Im afraid your camera does not have live view so therefore you will have to use the viewfinder to take your images and view them back on the lcd screen.

Why LCD monitor can not show image

Hi,

It might be that it accidently change the display time of the picture or turned it off. There is a setting that you can change to display pictures. Check if that might be the problem.

Cheers

Dealy on snapping pictures

Check your focus modes to see if you are using one that is different to usual. When a DSLR has no focus lock it won't take a picture. Also verify that the focus motor in the lens is working ok. Google 'lens focus tests' and see what you can come up with.

Internal memory

To LanaJones123

I'm afraid the Canon Rebel does NOT have an internal memory for storing pictures. Any pictures taken without a card installed will be lost.
