How do i fix a mac book pro that has been updated to Yosemite and now will not turn on

First caution note; do none of the following if you are faint of heart.
Do not do this if you feel uneasy or do not have a clue of what I say in this article.
Prepare yourself for a way to recover the use of all of your older applications that have been disabled by installing the so called Free Operating Systems provided by Apple.

1. hold down the " T " key (you will see a gray screen with a couple of icons bouncing around) This is called target mode
It will start up in Target get mode or Firewire or USB mode .

Now, hookyour computer to another computer vid firewire ( requires a firewire cable 800 to 800 or 400 to 800) depends on the newness of your machine.
You can choose to
Erase the drive and start over or when the Drive Icon shows on the other computer using DISK Utility you can reinstall OSX 10.6.8 or an 10.7 or 10.8 or 10.9 I prefer 10.6.8 as it lets me use all of the older Power PC applications YOu may have paid good money for.

You do not have to use 10.6.8 but you will not be able to use any of your old PowerPC applications if You leave Yosemite or any o the so called newer OS systems in it such as 10.7 or 10.8 or 10.9
another option is to
Erase everything on the recovery drive, ( but you cannnot see it unless you have The debug menu option in Disk Utility installedThere is also a command to make this easier for the terminal program
This will allow you to use The Disk utility app to use a hidden part of the program called DEBUG or debug menu
You can find this command online and instructions for it.
It is not known by vary many people that this debug menu even exists.
Yosemite, Maverick, Mountain Lion and Lion all have a hidden recovery partion that makes things like older applications not work anymore, When you are done, clone your drive to an external drive and if you somehow need to use Yosemite you can now start up your computer with the external drive by holding down the option key and choosing the external drive,
You must do the steps before this will work.
I am using a newer imac that came with Mountain Lion which disable the ability for me to use older PowerPc applications with it. Once I did this, it allows me to reinstall 10.6.8 into the machine. The only thing it messed up was my mail program.
It also requires you to reistall by dragging iDVD 7.1.2 and the older Imovie 6 from a older machine which are not available in the newer machines as they do not have an internal DVD player or burner in them. rwhich requires you to have an external burner hooked up iMovie 6 is an excellent older program for creating Picture Dvds for family keepsakes.
Note: It is very hard for me to give up this information to just any computer user as it is definitely an advanced thought process. You have to be ready or prepared to try to solve problems If you are not ready to learn then DO NOT TRY ANY OF THE ABOVE which will allow you to go backwards with newer machines and still use older and newer applications.
one more note your computer will alwasy try to get you to use the Free MAverickss and Yosemite operating sytems so be prepared Just say no to the newest and best Apple is to blame on this one and messed this up for everyone not just you
I apologize if any of this is over your head, Then I will say "Bless Your Heart" (definition on Urban Dictionary)
If you are confused you can always not go forward or maybe it is backwards to what use dot be a successful Operating system.

3. Press power button.

Tips to Maximise Dell Inspiron B130 Battery Life

Laptop batteries are designed specifically for different laptops brand as well as models. Today laptops are powered by lithium ion batteries. Lithium ion batteries are lighter, have a better power-to-weight ratio, have a longer usable life, can hold a charge longer, and do not have the memory effect to fail prematurely.
dell-inspiron-b130.jpg?w=300&h=225
Lithium ion batteries(such as Dell Inspiron B130 Battery and dell precision m60 battery ) are also inexpensive to manufacture as compared to the earlier generation of nickel metal hydride batteries. The only shortcoming about lithium ion batteries is as they contain lithium salt dissolved in a highly flammable solvent, there are chances of overhead which can result in short-circuits or even blow up in flames.
It is a common fact that all laptop batteries have provision for limited time of power supply. A good bargain is to check the battery power while buying a notebook. Here is one instant tip to optimize the battery settings in accordance with the energy saving mode of your notebook. These settings will put the hard disk into sleep mode whenever the workload is less and it will reduce the notebook microprocessor performance in order to maximize its battery life.
From the system preferences mode of your laptop, select view menu, then choose energy saver option from view menu. Right click on show details option and choose battery power from the pop-up menu. Finally choose longest battery life from the energy settings pop-up menu.
Tips to optimise your notebook batteries are described in the following:
It is a good investment to add more memory to your laptop as it saves battery power by reducing Windows’ dependence on the virtual memory swap file on your hard disk.
It is better to keep your laptop on standby mode when not in use for certain amount of time. Standby mode ensures all current info is saved in RAM with minimum consumption of battery power.
Charge your laptop battery frequently with a battery charger or AC adapter. It is very important to clean your battery’s metal contacts every couple of months to make it dust free. You can use a cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol to clean your laptop battery.
Try to set the screen brightness of the LCD panel of your laptop to the lowest comfortable level as very bright screen tends to consume more power from your battery.
Similarly it is better to get rid of the outer peripherals such as printers or digital cameras as they can still draw power from your laptop battery even when they are not used.
Turn of the unused features and technologies of your laptopo which are not frequently usable. For example, it is better to eject the CD or DVD when you are not using them as the optical drive has the tendency of reading CD or DVD it finds very often and this process consume extra battery power.
To save power, it is good idea to turn off the AirPort, Wi-Fi, IR radios and Bluetooth option when it is not required to use. Virus scan should be set only during the time you are usually plugged in as full-disk virus check by the hard drive and CPU consumes additional power from battery.
Opt for the power console applet to customize the power profiles on your laptop. Do not worry in case your notebook does not have power console applet option for most of the operating systems (starting from windows 98) have Power Options utility in Control Panel.
Turning off or at least disabling the PC Cards, FireWire devices and USB when not in use also saves battery power. In fact, disabling modem, network cards and USB ports consumes less battery power even when they are on. These devices are easily disabled in device manager.
You can use power saver option of your operating system to adjust the CPU processing power. Optimum CPU processes consume additional battery power and hence should be avoided if not required. Stop the auto start applications on your laptop, so that your laptop`s CPU can be stopped from doing unnecessary work.
With the above mentioned handy tips, you can truly increase the battery performance of your laptop.

How to change existing email font to Courier New?

You didn't say which email program you are using, and you didn't mention whether you are running the most recent version of OS X (it's free, so you should upgrade, if you haven't), so we'll go with the current version of Mail. Under the Mail menu, open Preferences. Then, click the Fonts and Colors tab. From there, you can select any font that you have on your computer. You will only have a few choices for fixed-width font, since only certain fonts are actually fixed-width.

okay going to have a bash at solving this but it's a little hard based on your description. I'm guessing this has Mavricks operating system installed.

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Dictation & Speech, then click Text to Speech.
  2. Select the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" checkbox. By default, speaking is enabled when you press Option-Esc. To choose a different key, click Change Key, press one or more modifier keys (Command, Shift, Option, or Control) together with another key, then click OK.

  3. To have your Mac start speaking, press the specified key. To stop the speaking, press the key again. If text is selected when you press the key, the selected text is spoken. Otherwise, available text items in the current window are spoken; for example, if Mail is the current window, an email message is read. If no text items are available, you hear a beep.
So based on what you have described you have already found this option and set the change key to "command" + "e"
Try rebooting then going to the text to speech option and attempt to set the key combination you want it to be. If this fails to change then try resetting the P-ram which should set it back to the default.

The circular timer startup screen NEVER STOPS! Powerbook G4

Hi

Safe Boot is a special way to start up in Mac OS X 10.2 or later when troubleshooting. Safe Mode is the state Mac OS X is in after a Safe Boot. To perform a Safe Boot, hold the SHIFT key as your Mac starts up.

Some features don't work in Safe Mode Safe Mode can be useful for troubleshooting. However, certain Mac OS X features do not work in Safe Mode. For example, you can't use DVD Player, capture video in iMovie, use audio input or output devices, or use an internal or external USB modem. The behavior of some devices such as an AirPort card may vary depending on computer and Mac OS X version.
Safe Mode in Mac OS X 10.5 or later also disables Quartz Extreme (hardware accelerated graphics). Applications that depend on Quartz Extreme will not open, and the Mac OS X menu bar will appear solid even if "Translucent Menu Bar" is enabled in Desktop & Screen Saver preferences.
