Question about SMC Barricade 7004VWBR Wireless Router
I have a 54MB SMC 2804WBRP-G...
My router worked for two years and lately every other day I have to reboot the router... not sure what the issue is... but Time Warner said it was my router... after I reboot it, my connection works. Do I need an update or a new router? Any info can help!
We have satellite Internet. They say everything is OK, but every few days I have to unplug my modem from the satellite, reboot, and everything is OK again. So I put a timer on mine, and it reboots every morning about 3.

it seems that the router capability of both devices are conflicting with each other so below are the steps that you can try to setup the two devices to work with each other.
i assume that you are using pppoe connection from at&t and you are using a connection manager. if so, with the current setup that you have right, you need to disable the connection manager on your computer (network connection, disable at&t connection) and set the connection of your web browser to "never dial a connection". check now if you will be able to connect to the internet instead of being prompted for a password. if your problem is still the same, try the steps below.
configure the westell 327w the way it was before (when it works properly when hard wired to the computers but the wireless sucks) but disable the wireless capability. change now the ip address of the smc router from it's default (192.168.2.1) to an ip address which is on the same segment as the ip address of the westell 327w (ex. 192.168.1.2 if your westell 327w is using the ip address 192.168.1.1). disable the dhcp of the smc router (note:make sure that you have configured all the settings that you want to configure with the smc (i.e. wireless settings, port forwarding, etc). then connect the westell to one of the LAN ports of the smc (note: with this setup, the wan port of the smc should not be used) and power cycle everything and check if this setup will work.
hope this'll help you and just ask me if you have other concern.

ya you can setup the password to router
at first you do go to router configure page in that adminster or mantenions will get in that password is there wirte your password old and new.
second if you want in wierless password then go to wirless in the enable siecurety some thing cilk it then wappsk/wap2psk that opption cilk then give the password then you get the proper secuty.

Maybe it is an electricity problem, or it's nearing the end of it's life. I bought 2 routers till now.each one worked fine for 2 years and then never worked. You should buy a new one or check if there's something with the electricity . Maybe a higher voltage
