Question about Western Digital 500GB My Book World Edition 500 GB Hard Drive
I went to reformat my C: drive and inadvertantly removed the partition on my My Book external drive. Computer doesn't recognize that drive anymore. When I plug in the firewire cable, I hear the sound saying a connection was made, but I see nothing in My Computer.
1) How do I get the computer to recognize that drive?
2) Can I put in a new partition and save the data that was on there?
Try using a recovery utility like Acronis or R-Studio. I have used R-Studio alot and it always comes through for me. The drive will be recognised but no drive letter will be assigned. Run the programme and after it scans the drive, select what you want to save and save it to another drive or partition.
That should do it.
