Hi Sandra, Try power reset for your camera. Turn the camera on, and without turning the camera off, open the battery door and take the batteries out. Leave it for a minute or two. This helps camera get reset and helps correct the basic functionality and also zoom error. Hope it helps u otherwise u will have to take it to authorised repair center. Good Luck.

put in lithium batteries.
I have the s7000 if we put in regular aa's then it will only last like 20 shots tops. But with lithiums we get a few hundred shots.

Does it work with "no batteries" - only plugged into power source? check your usb cable by trying to power up something else.

have you checked the lense assembly. One of the possible cause may be any of the lense element, inside the lense assembly may have dislocated from its fitting. Just swithc on the camera look inside the lense from the front and try to zoom the camera. if you happen to find any obsticle in the movement may be i am right.
