Question about RCA MM61110 61" Rear Projection Television
I have a hitachi 50V500A V4C024181 i have a big red dot on hte screen and it seems to stay there when i am turning the set off. i believe that it is the optical engine what could i expect to pay for this part and what have they done to remedy this problem. i guess its overheating!
There are two major problems. The first is I am not sure that a distributor would sell you an optics, The have to be returned for refurb and are usually only available to authorized servicers. But there are exceptions. Secondly, if you aren't familiar with how to do it, this is an extremely complicated procedure. Before it is all done, your tv will be in two piecse and spread out everywhere. The optics cost about $400 without the dud fee, You may want to consult a servicer to get an estimate on repair.
