Question about Toshiba 57H81 57" Rear Projection Television
I have a Toshiba 57H81 57" TV . The red power supply light which is normally on when the tv is off is flashing and the TV won't power on. I tried unplugging and replugging and different wall sockets and that hasn't helped. It still won't turn on. Any ideas of what could be the problem and how to fix it?
I have a toshiba 55hx70 same problem, repair guy just left said it was the power supply and wasnt worth fixing 350 to 400 dollars The tv is 9 years old and they wouldnt even take it to shop. Its been a great tv firs thing to go wrong.. Wo nder if I could replace it myself???

It sounds like your switching power supply or you High Voltage power supply has malfunctioned. These sections control all power to the TV and can produce the situation you are describing. If you do not have a background in electronics, I would suggest that you have a TV repairperson come over and check your TV out.
I say this because there are voltages in a TV set that can kill, so caution is needed.
I hope this helps
