Motor is driving only one direction counter clockwise that closes

I am unable to open my garage door, motor is driving only in one direction that is counter clockwise, which closes the door, even I release the door knob but still the same.

TRY UNPLUGGING FOR ABOUT 5 MIN.

THIS RESETS THE CIRCUIT BOARD.

IF THIS DOESN'T HELP TAKE OFF THE COVER AND LOOK AT THE LIMIT SWITCHES IT MAY BE RESTING AGAINST THE UP LIMIT - THIS WOULD TELL THE DOOR TO CLOSE - THE CHAIN MAY NEED TO BE SHIFTED - WITH THE DOOR FULLY CLOSED AND THE OPENER RESTING AGAINST THE CLOSED LIMIT REINSTALL THE CHAIN. & THEN RECHECK ALL ADJUSTMENTS

I installed the belt of the lift master garage door opener, but it looks like it has a lock and it does not open and close correctly. How can I re-set it?


The position of the belt and the limit assembly must be synchronized to operate properly. You need to loosen the belt enough to lift it from the pulley on top of the motor and then run the motor until it runs in the clockwise direction and stops. Now with the belt connected to the door and the door closed put the belt back on the pulley and tighten. Should do it.

SOUNDS LIKE THE UP LIMIT IS EITHER OUT OF ADJUSTMENT OR NOT WORKING.

TURN IT ABOUT THREE TURNS COUNTER CLOCKWISE. THIS SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO MAKE IT NOT OPEN ALL THE WAY. THEN ADJUST IT 1/2 TURN AT A TIME THE OTHER WAY UNTIL IT GETS CLOSE THEN SMALLER ADJUSTMENTS TILL YOU ARE HAPPY WITH WHERE IT STOPS.

My Craftsman 1/2 Hp garage door opener doesn't stop going down despite (quite forcefully!) applying pressure in the opposite direction. It would buckle (and did) if I don't let it continue unhindered...do...


YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE DOWN FORCE.

YOU WANT TO TURN IT COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO THE STOP (THIS ADJUSTMENT IS ONLY ABOUT 3/4 TURN FROM MIN. TO MAX.). THEN TRY THE DOOR IF IT REVERSES TURN IT ABOUT 1/16TH TURN CLOCKWISE. CONTINUE THIS VERY MINOR INCRAMENT ADJUSTMENT UNTIL THE DOOR CLOSES WITHOUT REVERSING. THEN GO 1/16TH TURN FURTHER.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO STOP THE DOOR AND REVERSE IT BY GRABBING THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR AS IT GOES DOWN AND LIFTING SLIGHTLY. IF YOU CAN'T GET THE DOOR TO BOTH CLOSE AND REVERSE WITH MODERATE PRESSURE YOU MAY NEED ADJUSTMENT TO THE DOOR / SPRING / ETC.
- I DO NOT RECOMMEND ADJUSTING THE DOOR YOURSELF - CALL IN A PRO FOR THAT.

IF THE ADJUSTMENT IS SUCCESFUL ADJUST THE OPEN SENSITIVITY / FORCE IN THE SAME MANNER.

Garage door doesn't open and close properly


Loosen the chain enough so that you can remove it from the sprocket above the motor unit. With the door closed run the motor until the sprocket turns clockwise and stops. With everything attached replace and tighten the chain. Some adjusting of the up and down limits will probably be required.

Our gARAGE DOOR OPENS ALL THE WAY BUT ONLY HALF CLOSED


Go to the main unit ( motor ) on one side youre going to see two holes , one is for set up how far will open , and the other hole is to set up the travel of the door when it closes. theres a travel direction arrow around the holes , one is counter clockwise and the other is clockwise. hope this helps AJ

Have replaced drive gear on Craftsman GDO. Everthing engages and chain moves but door only opens 3 inches are so. Have ajusted opening cointrol on side to max and only 3 inches. When I unlatch GD from...


Loosen the chain enough that you can remove it from the pulley on top of the motor unit. Now with the door closed run the motor until the pulley turns in the clockwise direction and stops. Put the chain back on the pulley and tighten. You may have to tweak the up and down limits now.

The door only moves 15 inches in each direction. I just installed a new gear kit.


Loosen the chain enough so that you can remove the chain from the sprocket above the motor. Run the motor until the sprocket turns in the clockwise direction and stops. With the door in the closed position replace and tighten the spring. This will get everything in sync and you will most likely need to tweak the 'up and down limit' controls to get it just right.

Garage door opener closes when closed


Try this: Loosen the chain enough that you can remove it from the sprocket above the motor. Now run the opener until the sprocket turns in the clockwise direction and stops. Reconnect the chain. This will get everything in sync and you will have to tweak the 'up and down limits' a bit to get it just right.

You may not have had the motor shaft pushed all the way back when you tightened the coupler after replacing the worm gear. Loosen the coupler up and from the front of the motor (opposite end in which the coupler is on) push the shaft back as far as it will go. Hold it there while you tighten the coupler back up and then try it.

Garage door close but motor keeps running


The close setting limit switch needs adjusted. Once it is adjusted it should work just fine.
