Please make sure all cable connections (especially the phone cable) is properly connected and secured on the back of the printer and into the phone jack in the wall. You may unplug and re-plug both ends of the phone cable just to make sure. Make sure that the printer is connected to the right phone jack in the wall for faxing.
Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power
supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the
printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.
Should the problem continue, please don't hesitate to contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.
The first thing that I would try multiple people to ask them to fax you.Sometimes the 2 machines don't "sync".This is a toll free fax test number that I always use to check my machines..1-888-473-2963.Just write the words "FAX TEST" in large letters on a blank sheet of paper..fax it to that number...leave the line open...you should get a fax back in about a minute. If you get a fax back...your machine is fine...let me know if this was helpful....thanks.
This is very simple to received, plug on the you telephone cable "Line port" and plug on the power cable, now your all in one printer is ready, open the all in printer menu and set you fax in auto answer mode, now call to your friends and tell you fax no. when your friends sending the fax you get the ring in you all in one printer Don't do anything automatic you fax is answer and you get the fax.
Are you able to send faxes when using the printer operator panel - not through Lexmark Productivity Suite application on your computer? Are you able to receive faxes without any problems? Make sure the fax line where the printer is connected is working properly. It could be a signal quality in the connection.
You can also try to decrease the transmission speed when sending faxes. On your printer operator panel:
Press the Fax button, then press Options 15 times to get to ADVANCED FAX.
Press Options ten times until MAX SEND SPEED appears on the LCD display.
Change it to 9600 BPS using the - (left arrow) button.
During a V.34 transmission, the local machine is unable to connect (handshake) with the remote machine and is consequently unable to send a T30 frame. This occurs when the line is disconnected or if line conditions degrade during the session.
Remove any pass-through devices from the phone line, and then try the fax again.
Confirm that the fax/phone cable is no longer than required, and that it does not pass near unshielded electric motors such as fans, heaters, or household appliances.
Try to send the fax at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.
I must tell you that this is not a printer issue, since printer does not have inbuilt fax capabilities....Actually you are trying to send fax from the computer using a Data Fax Modem. Printer just used for scanning and printing documents for fax...
1. Please check if your computer have Fax modem. Look at the back of the system tower, if you see a phone jack port (probably two of them).
2. If yes then , you need to have a telephone cable directly from wall (not the ethernet cable coming from DSL modem), fax works on analog signals which is possible only from telehone line.
If your phone line is working, there is no chance the it will give you error again for NO Dial tone
turn the printer on ... unplug the power cable without turning the printer off.... press and hold # & 3, keep them on hold .... while holding these two buttons put the power cable back in ... and wait for a few the screen to come up ... the screen may go blank ... use the power button to turn the printer on ... try to receive the fax ... if it will not work then try # & 6 .... remember take the backup of phone numbers if stored on the printer as it ll erase the memory of the printer ,,,
