I have a kicker 500.2 red protection light is on and red light on top of amp flashes every couple seconds. Have checked all connections and other amp in truck works good. I bought two of these amps and...

Disconnect all the wires except the three main power wires, ground, 12v battery and remote. Now, turn on your radio, if the protect light is still on then there's an internal short in the amp. If the light turns green, then there's a short in either the auxiliary cables or the speaker outs. If it turns green, then troubleshoot the other wires that plug into the amp by connecting them one at a time until the protect light comes on, which will tell you that there's a problem with that speaker/aux wire.

I have a Legacy Predator 2000 watt amp with 2 12'' Kicker speakers. It has been in my car for about a year now, and it recently just stopped working. I have the green light to the amp, im not sure about...

If you have checked your ground, live, remote and RCA's, The problem may lie with your kicker speakers.
There may be a loose wire connection on the speaker terminals (hense no sound).
Check the terminals at the speaker (+) and (-) then check the speaker wires to your amp inputs.
Usually if there is a fault with any wires linked to your amp, the amp goes into protect mode.
If your amp is not going into protect mode, try linking a different speaker to each terminal on your amp (left) then (right). If you get sound through a different speaker, more than likey your speaker wire to your kickers has came loose (due to vibrations) or there is a break in your speaker wire.

Hope this helps. If any more info is needed I'd be happy to help more. Please rate if helpful

How to hook up 2 kicker 10" speakers & kicker amp to a 2002taurus

Good day ma'am, hi, hooking up an extra amp. on your radio is done by audio professionals, but if you can remove the radio out from your ford, you can install that extra amp. Just follow the diagram below.63bff30.gif You need to find line out of your radio to line in of your kicker amp. connect them using audio shielded cables. connect your speakers to the amp. I guess you this already.

Kicker amo in my old vette

If the amp is in protect mode, it probably has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, do the following.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage drops below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is dropping too low when the amp goes into protect.

If the voltage is OK, you need to check the speaker wiring and the speaker(s). Try it with a known good speaker if possible to see if the amp works normally.

Dont know whats wrong

You can check the fuses if it has more than one. Or another thing that might be wrong is that you might have to big of a speaker hooked up. Or your power wire might be to small because if its two small then the amp cant get enough power to power a big speaker.

Kicker amp troubleshooting

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Diagnosis light

It could be an overheating or power issue. It may be that the two speakers are loading it too much, which will cause it to overheat. Does the light eventually go off and the sound return ? Do you have the speakers wired in series or parallel ? What's the impedance of the speakers and the minimum continuous load for the amp ?

Is it good or not

HI qq_lando,

Yes, you can get good bass from this setup. The Boos amp can handle 1 ohm but no less. You should be fine if your using one, no more than 2 kickers. You will need to configure the wires different for 2. Direct connect + to + and - to -. I must suggest if you have Dual Voice coil to wire your Solo X in series to keep the Ohms up. Main thing to remember is keep it below 8 ohm and above 1 ohm total impedance
